By the way, my great Uncle in Ireland had 29 children! All of them got married and had an average of 6 children each! So I have at least 200 second cousins from him alone. And he was NOT an only child! If you look on the Irish clan distribution map of current name distributions [McDonald] you will discover that we pretty much cover the whole of southern County Cavin! My sister visited Ireland, specifically County Cavin foe 5 years before she found someone who was not her cousin. Her daughter and her boyfriend were taking advantage of the New York City version of the Homestead Act and had bought a townhouse in the New York Grenich Village area and were restring it. They both usually went to a local Irish Pub before or after putting inmany hours restoring the abandoned house that they had bought. One day she told the bartender that she had to leave early to pick up her Mom who was returning from her annual trip to Ireland. Discussion followed, The bartendered turned out to be my nieces cousin! Good news! she found another family member! Bad news, she was his cousin and he would not serve her more than 2 drinks! Nobody forced anything upon them.Just because a bank will give you a "no proof of income loan" doesnt mean you have to take it.I have a good friend that sucked every penny of equity out of his house,because he could.He spent every penny on desert toys,a big truck,and a boat.He went from a $165,000 mortgage to a $400,000 in two years.Almost doubled his house payment when he knew he couldnt afford it.Lost it all and is screwed till he dies.It was all his own choice.The construction company i help run went through the same thing as everybody else.We adapted,we made no money except our paychecks and survived.Im sorry for what you have lost but its not the governments responsibilty to maintain greed. Your personal experience of the credit collapse is yours, and although I appreciate the sympathy John, not everyone who lost their home was like your irresponsible friend. My parents were not in over their heads, and they didn't buy desert toys. They razed 12 children and a grandchild. Just as they retired, most of my stepfather's pension was pulled out from under his feet, because the fund was heavily exposure to credit default swaps. Their social security and what was left of his pension didn't cover the mortgage that was taken out on their house 10 years before the crash. I find it insulting you want to lump everyone in with your dumb ass friend. My little boutique design build contracting company with me and two employees did not have the ability to "adapt" it's way out of the total collapse in the mortgage credit system. I was building high end decks, custom stairs, and built in wood features. As soon as the mortgage bubble popped, my business phone stopped ringing, end of story. My vision is fading, so I went back to school and got a degree in psychology. I have no idea how in the hell you twisted my words into Washington should maintain greed, but it is absolutely the government's responsible to maintain the integrity of our "free market" economy, and it failed to do that PERIOD. If you want to sweep the 08 collapse under the rug as though it was the people's fault, you're welcome to that opinion. Link to comment

Little Jebbie & the GOP establishment have been stomping on the collective throats of libertarians for fifteen years now and have lost the ability to sucker any but the most gullible repug voters. Anyone who understands American politics knows that Mitch McConnel and Marco Rubio have a much greater dislike for Rand Paul and the Tea Party than they do Obama and Black Lives Matter. In the states the people seem to be drifting more towards libertarianism while our government seems to be calling for greater control of the people in all aspects of their lives. I do believe the machine is no longer within reach of the mass "voting" populous. But I don't think any person nor group has their hands firmly planted at the reigns. It seems more like a big ass hot air balloon. Many entities carry enough weight that they can influence vertical direction dramatically. The masses are the hot air keeping it afloat.
