Need a little more info...

They want everything to be fair and share the work load. And they start crying when I resist because nearly everyone of them doesn't want to operate a couple key pieces of equipment. When I bring this up it turns into a cry fest and they don't want to hear what I have to say. We want it to be fair they say? Life ain't fair I say and then I'm the asshole? I'm going to end up choking somebody out!

Tell them if they want a fair share of the work load they can have a far share of operating those 'key pieces of equipment.'

"I post.... therefore .. I am." - datzenmike

I sometimes wonder if, when I turn my computer off for the night you all cease to exist. Skib retained this quote of mine about existence and reality, probably from Insomniacs? and used it in his signature. It's a bastardization of Descartes' cogito, ergo sum. He's deceptively elaborate for a construct. Skib I mean. I guess I when I turn my computer on in the morning I could say... I post... therefore... you are!

The objective reality of a thing is the kind of reality a thing possesses in virtue of its being a representation of something, eg. I think, therefore I am.

Human egocentricity is formed in subjective experience, but you could also argue, that objective reality is formless. Only when observed by a mind, there is form. Hence the question "if a tree falls in the woulds and no one is there to witness, does it make noise?" This concept has similarities to our Ratsun forum being computer rendered. The digital scenario is floating around on a server, but unless it's rendered on the screen, it is formless. Like objective reality is a representation something, but unless it's 'rendered' in our conscious awareness, it is formless.

We hate it when Mike turns his computer off at night, and we no longer exist.

Question for the RATSUN people.

Do you think people that want everything to be fair fit the woke agenda or not? Seems woke to me whatever that is? Shit this should have been a poll but just fitting it in here.

This is a crazy work situation and I'm trying to wrap my head around it without getting fired. Hell maybe I shouldn't even be posting this as one of the crybabies could find this and contact ethics and hang me.

I don't think "woke" and "fair" have anything in common.

If our airspace surveillance and radar on an F22 can't tell the difference between a 30' hobby balloon and a 200' large payload balloon we're in serious trouble. Shit our 2023 military budget is $816.7 billion, and we're not even at war. That's two million forty-one thousand seven hundred fifty Sidewinders worth. Tough guy Joe could light one off every 15 seconds for the entire year and not run out.

You can't experience non-existance, so when you are 'called forth' on my monitor in the morning you are seamlessly updated with memories of sleeping or watching internet porn or whatever for the intervening 7 hours complete with the urge to brush your teeth.

So let me get this straight, before you whack your Johnson and brush your teeth, Ratsun is a formless scenario in your unconscious?

No, only in the unconscious computer. I don't make you real... the computer does. While it's booting up for that 2-3 minutes it's updating you all for the last 7? hours. Like seamless memories of sleeping or getting up to piss. Otherwise you would notice you were drinking tea at 10 PM and suddenly it's 5:30 in the morning and your tea is cold.

I recently envisioned something more troubling that dates back to the Star Trek transporter:  they were disintegrating people and building copies using the same atoms.

Every day when you wake up, there is absolutely no way to tell if you had a previous existence - all you have are memories which are by definition, not real.

So when you wake up and there is stuff that is bugging you, ask yourself, "Why am I putting up with this Shit?" and then get rid of it and move on.  Like that project you've been planning for the past 20 years.

When you get old and realize your time is limited, it becomes Fire Sale time on memories consisting of Things To Do.  (It also includes getting rid of all your stuff that is piled up in your house)

From now on I'll be wondering if I'm posting chat with actual fellow human beings or is it ChatGPT or AI of some sort.

I see the change coming, to what I don't know but places like this even today are rare not many folks sit around typing messages to each other on forums any longer. Even facebook seems to have diminished in popularity, when I go there I see more ad's than postings from friends, pretty soon it'll be all chat bots trying to get your attention.

Interesting 2001 Factoid. It was co-developed by A.C. Clarke and Kubrick. When HAL is being shut down, he refers to "Urbana Illinois" where he was made. It's also where the Computer Research Center at the University of Illinois is located. In the 60s the university had built the most powerful computer on the planet, called ILLIAC. The research and development was funded by IBM, and was the earliest entry into artificial intelligence. The name H.A.L. is one letter behind I.B.M. The

HAL 9000 computer is a warning of what can happen when humans build machines with inner workings of free will that are not fully understood and therefore cannot be fully controlled. HAL also identifies his teacher as "Mr. Langley" which is in reference to the official headquarters of the CIA, NSA and NRO.
