Tristin
i do believe if you could find ammo which you definitely could just pricey being that its hundreds of years old it could very well blow up. i would have it thoroughly gone through. like a sonogram or whatever. not a expert but i wouldn't blindly trust a gun that old Obviously. I never said to just blindly fire the gun... Skib made a statement that sounded like he thought the gun wouldnt even fire (but in actuality he was talking about the ammo). With how simple the design is, I fully believe the gun will fire; theres no real mechanics to fail. Anybody worth their salt would want to make sure that an antique will be up to the task before trying it out- especially something as dangerous as a firearm. Quote Link to comment
SlottedMagz
oh ok. Yeah i made an assumption thinking you basically ment buy some ammo and go shoot the mofo. Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Lol no... that would be very dangerous. Quote Link to comment

ArchetypeDatsun
^ lolz I remember that episode they call him Captian Slow for a reason. On another note I got bullet but no gun, I'll have to flick my bullets with a sling shot at the gun range! 1 Quote Link to comment
a.d._510_n_ok
yeah the gun will still fire if you had functioning ammo. but ammo is a trick to come by. yep. I've seen a lot of goofy, obsolete calibers offered by folks like Fiocchi and Sellier and Bellot + you can roll your own for some by necking down modern cases but no one repops pinfire. I don't think I've ever seen an actual round of the stuff! Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
Thats not allowed at my range. I love the m1a1 carbine. So much fun to shoot , my grandpa had one but left it to a different family member Quote Link to comment

HRH
You know, it's funny. I haven't bought any ammo or used any since last year. Save one in the alley at a pitbull. My ghetto has been quiet lately. Hell, I haven't even bothered to carry the .45 much. Ever since I came back from vacation I haven't worried about it. And for the record, consumer demand is what's causing the ammo shortage as of late. Government buying programs are the same as they've always been. Knee-jerk reactions to wild ass theories are the real problem. Quote Link to comment

It's not going to go down in value! Keep it until you either grow very fond of it and decide it's a keeper or really need the money. Quote Link to comment

I've held onto it for almost 14 years. Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
If I dont use something actively for a while. I usually sell it. however for me, this does not apply to guns. 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Good to hear,I have sold guns but things I did not care for but yea buy to keep the arcenial growing.Seems like ammo is coming down a little on prices and getting easier to get at least in southern Cali. Quote Link to comment
