datsunfreak
Hydraulic handbrake going in very soon... Had a go at slotting the crossmember to adjust the camber a bit. Got about 1/4" and had to stop. Bits I had for the die grinder suck at this and it was taking FOREVER. So now to find something that will do the job a little easier... I want to drive this soooooooooooooo bad... 2 Link to comment
datsunfreak
Tim helped me out and picked up some grinder bits to finish the slots on the crossmember. Got one side done completely and started on the other side. Should be done next time I get to the shop. Need to get the rear brake lines made up, then we should be ready to put it all back together... B) Also got the seat belts extenders installed (hey, something's gotta kill me), and they work very well. 1 Link to comment

tr8er
Well, it seems the rear suspension sort of fell out... Had to take all that out to get the crossmember out for a few minor mods... Wanted to fix an alignment issue we've had since the install, and go ahead and slot the mounting ears to get a little more fine adjustment to the camber/toe. Should have the mods done and have it back in by next week... And in the never ending saga of "what am I ever going to do with this panel", I got a kooky idea... I think I could cut it down and do something like this? That is a sick idea about the airdam. It'll be big as hell, but will look killer! hinge it on top with skate wheels on the front lip so it can lift for speed bumps. Link to comment
datsunfreak
That is a sick idea about the airdam. It'll be big as hell, but will look killer! I'll trim it down so as to not be too big. But I wouldn't mind it at a wacky length either... ^_^ hinge it on top with skate wheels on the front lip so it can lift for speed bumps. Oh, my car would never make it over a speed bump... 3 Link to comment
Rhapakatui
I've got a 620 tailgate that looks like it'd be a good fit for that Datsun panel. Same color too. 2 Link to comment

datsunfreak
Engine fuel lines installed, and made a "choke cable"... ^_^ Drilled the hole in the firewall for the throttle cable and made a little bracket to hold it down out of the way for a "cleaner" look... Installed the gas pedal, after tweaking it about 27 times to get the right angle on everything... Other than filling the extra holes, I think we're pretty much done in here... Need to do a little more tweaking on the pedal to get the top to line up with the cable better, and then install a new ferrule on the cable to shorten it a bit, and then make a stopper for the pedal to get it to sit at the right height. Should have all that done on the next trip. 3 Link to comment
Duncan
That's looking good! I used a go-kart throttle cable on my wagon when I put the Weber on it :) I like your "On-the-fly" engineering! Link to comment

datsunfreak
Cut down the hydraulic e-brake stop (which I didn't need) to make a throttle stop. Also had to take the pedal off again to tweak the top a tiny bit. It lines up with the cable perfectly now though. Need to install the new ferrule on the cable and I think that bit is done. 2 Link to comment

datsunfreak
Finished the slots and put some more paint on the crossmember... New ID plate to replace my crappy stock piece... Stamped in the numbers and installed it. Numbers are a tiny bit larger than the stock numbers, but I think I can live with it. We'll see... Been thinking about going back down to 13s, so tried this out... I was able to get the diff reinstalled into the crossmember and slid it all up under the car, but ran out of time to get it bolted in. That'll be first up the next time we go... 5 Link to comment
datsunfreak
Okay, made a decision. Selling my Rewinds tomorrow to get a super clean set of polished d-slots for my orange 510 wagon. So I'm keeping the tires I have and getting some Bassett 14x7 chrome wheels for this. Most likely the -25 for the front and the -50 for the rear. Thinking I may paint the centers and just leave the lips chrome? Thinking either gold or metalflake pink... 1 Link to comment

Polish those up and they will look great. (Who paints those back?) I'd be all over a set if I could find some 14x6 in a +20-25 offset. Can you say slammed? :w00t: Link to comment

He is 17, so... I'd be all over a set if I could find some 14x6 in a +20-25 offset. These would be brilliant on an unflared 1200. Kinda wish I had one now... ^_^ Link to comment
datsunfreak
Some motivational touches added today... Added my daruma sticker... Another shop I deal with does this on their jobs, so I thought we would try it also (jobs left to do before I can drive it)... And I kinda still want to run this grill, so I thought I'd give it a try for awhile and see if it grows on me... Still hoping to drive it on my birthday (Dec. 21), so I need to get the fuel tank sorted asap... 4 Link to comment
