Floyd was a good concert (I think).

That's the problem, if you remember you weren't high enough.

That Chinese food song is a perfect example of what happens when people who don't do drugs think they can make music.

Thank you drugs for every song I've ever loved.

And Steely Dan is just about as bad as it gets for songs that I'm likely to hear on the radio.

W in TF!!!! You don't like Steely Dan?????  Sure Reelin in the Years is over played on radio just like Margaritaville but not like Dan????  Don't stand, don't stand,  don't stand so close to me.

The Police, and Steely dan are two very different bands. I can't tell for sure, but it appears you are Daning don't stand so close to me. Can this be?

In my office, Steely Dan is appropriate cause for termination. It's actually in our employee handbook. Humorous? Yes . But it's there.

Steely Dan is not talentless. They just represent all that is evil.

Id rather have Zamfir on repeat surgically implanted in my head.

I am glad to see I am not the only one who thinks Led Zeppelin is horribly overrated! Personally I hate 98% of their music, damn jungle noises and Robert Plant moaning and hollering.

My taste is broad, but sharp. I'm pretty sure we could turn this affect on a few of my favorites as well.

Actually Mike, the feeling isn't mutual. I'd buy you a beer at Canby. But now I'm not sure you'd like my beer.

No matter, not my party. An ocean lies in the way.

If you only listen to the radio yes Led Zepplin  seems pretty repetitive but the album (Physical Graffiti)  HRH posted is fucking  epic..

And jungle noises ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,  wtf?

Well well well ,, so i can die eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasy

FYI my wife walked from the other end of the house and  just yelled at me for listening to this song to loud,,,,,,,,, and i had my earphones on.

No, that's good in another way... we can insult each others taste with impunity.

Ya, well being born in `72 I can understand as disco and new wave and long hair tunes diluted your musical taste along with what your girlfriend wanted to listen to.

Bummer!!

who Bob Dylan?

My girlfriend is sooo cool she hates Bob Dylan, she also thinks John Lennon ruined Yoko Ono's art career. What a righteous 25 year old cutie pie!

Whenever I see 70's classic rock records my junk points straight down,  it reminds me of having the flu as an infant child.

No your lady has it backwards Yoko just about ruined John's career. If it wasn't for John no one would know Yoko,,,as in Yoko Who? Your GF's age reflects her obvious unknowing of the facts and these people, sorry B) Take a trip back to the facts.

Or...maybe being born in 72 makes him dislike musical plagiarism.

  • "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" - A folk song by Anne Bredon, this was originally credited as "traditional, arranged by Jimmy Page," then "words and music by Jimmy Page," and then, following legal action, "Bredon/Page/Plant."
  • "Black Mountain Side" - uncredited version of a traditional folk tune previously recorded by Bert Jansch.
  • "Bring It On Home" - the first section is an uncredited cover of the Willie Dixon tune (as performed by the imposter Sonny Boy Williamson).
  • "Communication Breakdown" - apparently derived from Eddie Cochran's "Nervous Breakdown."
  • "Custard Pie" - uncredited cover of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down," with lyrics from Sleepy John Estes's "Drop Down Daddy."
  • "Dazed And Confused" - uncredited cover of the Jake Holmes song (see The Above Ground Sound Of Jake Holmes).
  • "Hats Off To (Roy) Harper" - uncredited version of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down."
  • "How Many More Times" - Part one is an uncredited cover of the Howlin' Wolf song (available on numerous compilations). Part two is an uncredited cover of Albert King's "The Hunter."
  • "In My Time Of Dying" - uncredited cover of the traditional song (as heard on Bob Dylan's debut).
  • "The Lemon Song" - uncredited cover of Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor" - Wolf's publisher sued Zeppelin in the early 70s and settled out of court.
  • "Moby Dick" - written and first recorded by Sleepy John Estes under the title "The Girl I Love," and later covered by Bobby Parker.
  • "Nobody's Fault But Mine" - uncredited cover of the Blind Willie Johnson blues.
  • "Since I've Been Lovin' You" - lyrics are the same as Moby Grape's "Never," though the music isn't similar.
  • "Stairway To Heaven" - the main guitar line is apparently from "Taurus" by Spirit.
  • "White Summer" - uncredited cover of Davey Graham's "She Moved Through The Fair."
  • "Whole Lotta Love" - lyrics are from the Willie Dixon blues "You Need Love."

Great points Smoke. Musical plagiarism been around since the washboard was used in a tune. As I like to say "There's the way it is and the way it should be" Sgt Barnes from The Movie Platoon. Me if it's good I'll listen and won't care who or where it came from. It's all about what moves you. I like almost all music cept for Rap and 60% Country though I do give a good ear to it. Todays Pop you can have it 90% of it sucks my Boxers Howl at it.

Us boxers stay together you know

1. Pretty much any Eric Clapton song...I don't get the popularity.

2. Hip Hop (if that's what it's called this week) that drops the N bomb every second verse.

3. Old school country (got out of prison and was hit by a train)

4. Hispanic (Mexican) stuff you hear on the radio from North of the Grapevine until you hit Stockon that features heavy use of the accordian.

I hate to bust anyones bubble but with a few exception ,, every single thing anyone has ever done was a repeated action of some sort. The person just refined the movement or action in order to improve it.

You can't say for a fact that any of those blues artists came up with everyone of those cords and rhythms themselves,,, did they ever give credit to anyone ever?
