john510
My wife gets over 90% of her diabetic patients off meds within 6 months through diet/exercise alone. This is what Dmike is talking about. Insurance doesn't support preventative/curative medicine. That doesn't mean government sponsored insurance will, but there if far less reason not to. Um negative,my insurance provider makes me do a health screening once a year.Bloodwork, check weight, blood pressure along with various random tests. This year it was stick a paint brush in some shit and wipe onto a test strip to check for bleeding. For doing this i get a $50.00 a month discount.I would consider that preventative. And this is the problem. They consider that preventative care as well. Thats a test. Do they have you log your exercise routines, meals? Do they help you develop a meal plan to follow? Do they offer help you transition people from eating out, to cooking? A doctor should be more than a diagnostician/pill pusher. Docere. A latin term meaning Doctor is Teacher. But since everyone is fucking perpetually sick, our doctors have no time to teach. In many civilizations of old, doctors got paid by the healthy. The sick didn't pay. If a Doctor were to identify a common issue among their community, you'd think they would take measures to treat that community. Instead, we pay them to sit behind a desk and wait for us to knock on their door with an insurance number. I'm really not meaning to take this out on you John. I'm frustrated with the medical industry so I apologize for quoting you. Insurance companies have developed the model of the For Profit medical industry. Everyone fell in line to get that paycheck. Pharma doubles the price of drugs purchased outside of insurance, insurance companies keep and gain customers based on the sheer unaffordability of drugs. Doctors prescribe drugs more often than they should because drug companies pay them kick-backs based on prescriptions written. Further incentivising doctors to continue writing prescriptions (aka keeping their customers, I mean patients sick). Universities charge exorbitant amounts for degrees, and pharmaceutical companies donate buildings and facilities to make campuses more valuable. Graduates graduate with so much debt that they barely can survive with six figure salaries if they intend to pay off their 1/4million$ loans. Inspiring them to fall in line. Over the course of time, the career choice for doctor has increasingly attracted less healers, and more salary seekers. You can see this in the bedside manner of doctors these days. I'm just sick of it. I see it from the inside and it's so fucked up. My wife is a doctor. I worked for a major medical insurance company for years. The shit I've seen and heard would leave no-one in favor of the current system. Truman should have squased the unions back in the day... Link to comment

datzenmike
Just where the fuck would you find 50 million people withing range of a ground burst 250 kilo ton (average US bomb) 400 kilo ton (average Russian bomb) nuclear device??????? This is the problem with mega ton bombs there aren't enough people near enough for one large pop. Like a single bullet vs. a shotgun with smaller pellets. I maga ton ground blast in Manhatten..... within 1.7 miles 98% death rate. for the next 2.7 miles 50% death rate. For the next 4.7 miles 5% death rate. More would die down wind from fallout. If a US or Russian bomb, (1/3 this size) this would be much less. Worse would be a dirty bomb that contaminates virtually forever. Link to comment

Crony Capitalism..... This is not free market capitalism for sure. When legislation is written by the governing representatives to favor large financial companies, in this case big money insurance then its no longer is free market. In my lifetime healthcare has never been free market. Its some bastardised hand wringing predatory system. I have no solution for this, but going single payer in our self serving deep state system will only wreck it more. I agree with what you wrote in the quoted remark. 1 Link to comment

Soundline
Aaaaaand now you know. Saturated fats are necessary in the human body. Every cell in your body has a cell wall that's composed of it. But... this is what they pushed as a narrative... for $50,000. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/09/13/493739074/50-years-ago-sugar-industry-quietly-paid-scientists-to-point-blame-at-fat So we introduced trans fat because it was "healthier" http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/16/health/fda-trans-fat/ Except when your cell walls are made of trans fats the wall doesn't allow things those cells need to move across the cell wall appropriately. That's why they made them illegal to feed to humans... except they gave them 3 years to take it out of our food... 1 Link to comment
Soundline
Its the irony in the statement. He's a comedian. But you're right! Umm... no. Those Orange rings will kill people without medical attention. This entire area will be uninhabitable for the next 5,000 years (according to the work being done at the bikini atolls. The fallout and radiation poisoning over the course of nine months would kill the vast majority of the people in these areas. Watch "Command and Control" on Netflix. You'll learn a few things about nuclear war. If you factor in the poisoning that would cause in the Atlantic Ocean, how that illness will spread to subsequent generations of people, the amount of cancer, the shutting down of nearly 1/3 of the US's Eastern Seaboard, the starvation and famine that occurs next, that it will trigger nuclear explosions of the Minuteman and any Trident Warheads or nuclear bombs from surrounding bases on the ground in the blast zone, combined with the chain reaction caused by it of us responding with nuclear force against whatever country we decide to target for our response... I think 50 million is a conservative estimate. If D.C. Is nuked you know our sub commanders have orders to launch on their own.... same with missile sites all over the world. 2 Link to comment

And I don't have any reason to expect our government is going to be immediately great at it, but I know there will be less motivation to not treat and not heal patients. Also, it's the alternative to what we have now. So I'm into a non profit driven system. Also include some real fucking safeguards from government re-allocation. No more Social Security style borrowing. Link to comment
