We'd been planning the trip for months and paid for by the hard labor of the girls selling those god damn cookies. Got to the grade coming into the South West entrance at around 5:PM, and this is what we saw. No, it's not overcast, it's smoke from the Tenaya Fire, located above the north rim of the Valley. Uneasy feeling on the way up driving through the charred remains of the rim fire with dark heavy smoke in the air. Talk about creepy. 9:30am the next morning and we saw this guy just walking down the trail. Still got a smoky (bone dry) view of the lower falls and went swimming in the valley river, so it was mission accomplished. 5 Link to comment
