I do agree more with what the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said in press conference with the Don about the subject when asked.

He stated that the structure of laws in USA are a matter for USA to decide on.

Was it a politically diplomatic answer ?

OF COURSE.

Smart answer too.

Actual mass shootings of the type that USA experiences regularly has not occurred since Port Arthur in 1996 (no matter how one wants to try to use other smaller acts of multiple deaths by casualty) and for us it's worked.

Each nation or people have to decide how they want to be governed and with what laws.

USA is too far gone for the guns to be ever eradicated and is up there with death penalty, abortion as subject of contention.

If the majority want open access to firearms and the resulting shootings does not deter the majority then have at it I say.

Just don't expect me to tear up over it when there's dead US citizens.

Florida Gun Show sees “record number” of attendees despite gun control debate
Manager for the Florida Gun Show, George Fernandez says they've never seen such a big crowd.

7k on the opening day, that would have been the number for the whole weekend.

Well, apparently the Sheriff Dept. had manipulated the crime numbers for the area and lowered them, when in fact, crime had gone up. Enforcement was a bit more lax thanks to that report, and it was all done for political purposes.

Because Elections cost more than money.

He needs to resign, like now.

Private sales.

Person to person. I’m pretty sure that was put in there with zero statistical facts, and a generalization to add to the “Scary” gun show loop hole....

Do you think it's higher or lower than 5%? I've no idea.

Anybody else see how fucking absurd this whole thing is? Once again a mass shooting brings public outcry razing attention, assumptions fly, fingers point in all directions, poll after poll shows the greatest % of the Americans want to strengthen gun regulation, but the media lets fringe anti gun extremists and pro gun extremists define the debate, politicians talk out of both sides of their mouth until the dust settles, and once it's devolved into a soap opera, the only thing that's accomplished is higher news ratings for a few weeks.

I'd like to propose a way to move dialogue forward on the greater subject of how we WOULD choose to regulate guns in Merica. Here's a list of possibilities being floated that don't outlaw guns, but attempts to regulate them for greater public safety. Without judgement for right or wrong, good or bad, Which of these would you choose. BTW please ad any you don't see but would consider.

1. Outlaw bump stocks

2. Raise the minimum age to purchase a high powered semiautomatic weapon from 18 to 21

3. Expand open cary across the country and into public spaces like schools

4. Focused efforts to reform strengthen, and streamline the National Instant Criminal Background Check System

5. Hold all gun sellers (individual retail and internet) accountable for background checks on every sale of a gun(s) with unique NICBC certificate # connected to every receipt.

6. Reform HIPPA regarding mental health, meds, and "mandatory reporting" laws to include a nondescript instant "flag" attached to background checks simply stating "Not eligible for gun purchase or gun ownership." With plenty of room for reconsideration and recourse

7. Mandatory understanding of basic gun ownership laws and safety (purchase storage handling firing) and passing a simple written test before you are able to buy your first gun.

8. Public education in identifying "at risk individuals" (mental or felon in possession) and clear paths for reporting them to proper authorities.

9. Universal mandatory safe storage laws

10. Stiffer mandatory sentencing for knowingly unlawful possession of a gun

11. Massive federal voluntary (no questions asked) gun buy back with the caveat they are strictly cataloged and destroyed with independent public oversight.

12. Assign a congressional commission to create legislation so that once a report of a dangerous individual is made, there will be a universal standard followed for filing information, maintaining a clear line of authority, and proper enforcement procedure/criteria for investigation and if needed disarming people deemed a danger to self and or others. Leaving plenty of flexibility to review, adjust, and refine.

For me, I'm willing to put my picks out on the table and listen to logical reasoning of opinion for or against my choices. Trust, none of this is set in stone, just how I'm leaning.

If you don't put your numbers up though, you haven't earned the right to comment, so please don't muddy this up with judgmental  diatribes. Anyone else willing to?

2013 0bama/holder Promise Program

https://www.scribd.com/document/372308388/Broward-County-Promise-Program-Fully-Executed-Collaborative-Agreement-Final-Document

The cliff notes version. 0bama/Holder put in place a program where schools get money for not arresting for crimes done in school The intent was to decrease the number of "minority" arrests.

What it has to do with the here and now is Nik Cruz would have had a record and thus would not have been able to buy the rifle. Adding to the list of failures that brought about this event.

Interesting side note, the High School principle was brought in from Chicago to bring in this program. Which sheriff Israel states is one hell of a success. Yea tell that to the 17 families Mr. Israel.

So, how is Omama tied to a State program? Maybe it just looked good there.

Also, I dug a bit but found no instance where the shooter was "excused" due to this program.

This looks like a desparate move to attach Obama to this incident. But I'm open to seeing evidence that this is relevant.
