    Wrecking Yard Report

Lewiston Idaho, the Forest salvage yard closed today. I have not been there but I would think there are a few Datsuns in it. http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2018/jun/13/so-long-salvage-yard-forest-auto-parts-closes-fate/

  4. Not that I am picture hosting savvy but, I have not heard of SmugMug. Has anyone had any dealings with SmugMug? Good, bad, indifferent? Does this site have any heartburn about SmugMug? I have until May 25 to ether close my Flickr account or switch over. I will be doing some research and unless there is a reason not to go to SmugMug I will give them a try. Let me know, Thanks.

What did you do to your dime today?

If it is rattle can paint, it is softer than the old car paint. I have used a graffiti paint remover on painted over bicycles. It bubbles up quickly and does not hurt the enamel paint. Just hose it off Home supply stores have it as well as Grainger, https://www.grainger.com/search?searchQuery=Graffiti+Paint+Remover

New to the forum, not to Datsuns

The drivers seat is very adjustable, I found the bolts for the front straps on the gas tank. I had searched all over my garage and they appeared on my bench. Tank is ready to go in. Vent tubing was installed. While looking for the bolts I came across a working temp sending unit for the 1500 in bucket of bolts.

Well, I have done a few things, Cleaned and greased the seat rails. Latch pin for the seat was broken so I made a new one, works good, pictured is the broken one, Gutted the drivers side seat, got rid of the petrified mouse carcass and fixed it so I can use it to bleed the brakes. Actually, quite a lot of adjustment in the seat. Gas tank is ready to go back in, now if only I can find the two front strap bolts,
  8. I was looking through the posts and cannot find the fix for the rattle. Anyone point me to the info? Thanks

The speedometer is in km/h. A migrant worker drove it from Mexico to Washington? Might be an interesting story by its self.

    JDM Legends

I watched the last 1/2 hour JDML and was not excited. I also caught part of Goblin Works. They rebuilt a 280Z with the wide body plastic fenders. Then they painted it the blue and orange Gulf Porsche Le Mons color scheme, it was absolutely horrible. I turned off the tv and went back to work on my '64 roadster.

    '95 D21 Driveline Problems

Thanks Mike, yes I can put in a patch but, I wanted to find out why the rubber is shredding. What you did was replace a flexible piece of rubber for rubber that is less flexible. The last bearing I replaced the rubber was actually torn radially. This does not happen over night, the current bearing has been in not quite a year and a half - 5000 to 6000 miles. Process of elimination, I occasionally have heavy loads and travel a distance, not the problem. The massive torque from the KA-24 (sarcasm), not the problem. Wheel / driveline alignment, not the problem. Driveline itself, it has been balanced, not the problem. I do have a set of air shocks on the rear, not the problem, driveline angle not compromised. Now writing all this down, I think I have figured it out, it is just the way I drive it. It is my DD, putting back and forth to work (sucks but pays the bills), lots of stop and go traffic. On and off the clutch. I think it would last a longer if the truck was an automatic or if I traveled on the freeway. I am going to replace the trans mount for as stiff a mount as I can get. Thanks for reading, if anyone has any other ideas, let me know.
