a.d._510_n_ok
Plowing Is Pollution, Dry Streams Are Navigable Water Says Federal District Judge In Duarte “Plow A Field, Go To Jail” Lawsuits Plowing a field is pollution according to Judge Kimberly J. Mueller in an order issued June 10 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. The judge’s decision rested on the following key points: •Soil is pollution •A plow is a point source of pollution, identical under the law as “dredge fill.” •The smallest “nexus” turns land into navigable “Waters of the United States” •A farming exemption must be based on continual farming. •Grazing does not count as farming for CWA exemption if it is different from the previous land use. While the Duarte property is more than 10 miles from the Sacramento River and connected by seasonal streams that are dry for most of the year, the judge in the Duarte case, “thus finds that the wetlands on the Property have a “significant nexus” with the Sacramento River, which is a traditionally navigable waterway.” The judge noted that, “a majority of the Supreme Court has yet to agree on an explanation of when wetlands are sufficiently adjacent to navigable waters to confer CWA protection.” http://wineindustryinsight.com/?p=71789 Link to comment

paradime
Wait, what! California is flush with cash from an expanding economy? I thought Cali businesses were in full exodus, and we were folding under Moon Beam's liberal agenda of oppression. Hallelujah, Trump's tax cuts worked. Happy days are here again! < Yeah, this is sarcasm BTW, Can we finally burn Hillary at the stake already, so we don't have to hear every damn thing she and her clan have ever done, are doing, and might do in the future? I mean holy shit, you'd think she was president with all the attention she gets on Fox. It's almost like they're trying to divert attention away from something. Weird right? 2 Link to comment
a.d._510_n_ok
Acting ICE director wants politicians in sanctuary cities charged with crimes Thomas Homan said in an interview Tuesday with Fox News Channel's Neil Cavuto that the Department of Justice needs to file charges against municipalities that don't cooperate with federal immigration authorities and deny them funding. He also says politicians should be held "personally accountable" for crimes committed by people living in the U.S. illegally. Homan says, "We've got to start charging some of these politicians with crimes." U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has repeatedly vowed to withhold federal money from localities that refuse to give federal immigration authorities access to jails and provide advance notice when someone in the country illegally is about to be released. California officially became a sanctuary state on Monday, after Governor Jerry Brown signed the law giving the entire state sanctuary status in October. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/acting-ice-director-wants-politicians-in-sanctuary-cities-charged-with-crimes/ Link to comment

What were the signs that lead up to 1929 Black Tuesday, 1981 recession, 1989 Savings and Loan Crisis, 2001 Tech Crash, and the 2008 Banking Collapse? At the top of the list are uneven distribution of wealth, overproduction/deflation, highly leveraged asset bubble, irrational consumer confidence, and excessive public debt. Historically citizenship in some periods and nations was a thing that needed to be worked for the right (even for those born in said nation). Fighting for citizenship a la revolution or forming a new nation is more common. On another topic - more Bannon "fake news" ? Link to comment

a.d._510_n_ok
WaPo (which is not exactly pro-Trump) suggests the author of the Trump book is known to stretch things a bit. Michael Wolff’s Trump book: The latest in a career of controversy Wolff has made his career lobbing critical bombs from the pages of prestigious magazines like New York and Vanity Fair. He has also, as The Washington Post’s Paul Farhi wrote on Wednesday, been accused by critics of “pushing the facts as far as they’ll go, and sometimes further than they can tolerate.” Attacks have already started on the book’s credibility, coming from both beat reporters dialed into the administration, and far right Trump backers like Alex Jones. His gossipy media world columns have earned industry kudos. Wolff twice won the National Magazine Award for commentary, in 2002 and 2004. Yet his reputation in journalism circles is not bulletproof. Critics have blasted the writer in the past for filling his column inches with insight and imaginative recreation rather than actual reporting. “Historically, one of the problems with Wolff’s omniscience is that while he may know all, he gets some of it wrong,” David Carr wrote in a 2008 New York Times review of Wolff’s 2008 book on Rupert Murdoch. As The Post reported this week, credibility has been a repeated issue. Wolff’s first bestseller, “Burn Rate: How I Survived the Gold Rush Years on the Internet,” came under fire after Brill’s Content found a dozen individuals who disputed their quotes in the book. When Wolff was later penning a regular column for New York magazine, book editor Judith Regan called foul on a column about her, as did Andrew Sullivan. Both disputed Wolff’s portrayals of them. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2018/01/04/michael-wolffs-trump-book-the-latest-in-a-career-of-controversy/?utm_term=.f13542167d08 Link to comment
