which is for sale at the moment because I want to pick up another project, but if it doesn't sell, I don't have problems keeping it ;)

Hi from Perth Western Australia!

Thought I'd better 'check in' before I go asking all sorts of nu-b questions

I actually signed up about 4 years ago before I bought my goon, but I've been a bit of a freeloader up until now

So here's my project:

Its a '71 Aussie 1600 and the above pics are from the day I bought it about 3 years ago. It drove ok (except for a stuffed dogleg box) and I've kept it registered, but sadly, not much has happened since then besides me stripping it to a near bare shell (bought a house, had two kids.... the usual). It has a bit of rust and a bit more bog (bondo?), a tired L18 with an A87 head and Weber downdraught, and a welded rear end, but I think the time has come to get things moving again. It won't happen fast (lack of funds  ), but I'll get there with a little Ratsun inspiration!! :D

Over the last 3 years I've also happened to acquire some other bits:

2 L20B's (one early with an A87 head, rear sump, twin SU's and unknown internals, and another from a later Bluebird stock standard with very low km's),

an unknown 4 speed box which came from another 1600,

another short dogleg 5 speed,

plus another longer mystery box that I haven't really had a look at yet,

plus another set of twin SU's on their own.

Hopefully I can put together a decent combination out of all this!

Woohoo another Aussie.

I had a similar red back spider gear knob on my first 1600 in 1986!

Needs the back dropped :)

Hehehe! Where you from?

Yeah, a big drop is certainly on the cards after the bodywork and engine/gearbox is sorted. ;)

Yes, I am.

We do, but I like the RHD models. None of those here. (I know of one other that has been converted to RHD)

It was full of rust and bog and probably would not have passed your inspection. You say I took it away, I say I saved it.
