Leave those wheels rusty chrome... they look awesome... really Mike when you think of it If you go red with rattle can its not gonna be as classy, I mean Dorothy from the Wizzard of Oz would wear Red Shoes, Shes like supposed to be like 13 or something right, but youd never catch Lauren Bacall or Grace Kelly wearing shit like that...

[ I feel kind of dirty, I just made a Wizzard of Oz reference topped by two other not in my era female actresses reference, I need to go look at some porn or something to re-affirm my hetrosexuallity]

Ok heres one.... MC Feckin Hammer... HE WOULD wear red shoes...

Mike im jealous! The new stance looks good. Maybe just spray the rims a gloss red & polish all the chrome as best you can & take it like that. Or if you want to primer the truck buy a cheapo HF gun [$15] & 3 quarts of laquer primer & do it that way. Might take 2 hours to sand w/ a big DA & 1 hour to mask, hell have Jeff help you..:D I would if i were closer you know that!

Mike if you go with a darker bottom half keep the rims dark or chrome, more better.

Red shoes?... maybe Rita Hayworth eh Mike?

as for the red shoes......verdict is still out...I want to see what they look like first, but I do typically like the look. The top half will not get painted...all black/red rims is so common these days I'd sooner leave it unpainted....but I do like that look. I'm leaning toward the red rims because it ties the exterior to the eng bay and the interior that way.....provides a continuity.

I vote leave the extrior alone. I LOVE RUST!! actually you should buff it all out. save what's left of the red and polis the rust.

Leave the wheels black. Red on black looks great, but black steelies with caps and whitewalls (or mickeys) or even redlines :o would look great no matter what the paint scheme is

Okay Mike I did my best on the red wheels. It was kinda difficult to get the red to look really round due to the low light on the dark wheel. I fixed a lot of it by hand, I figured you get the idea :D I will do the white walls tomorrow. You are always giving us something to look forward to I figured I should do the same :D

If the wheel was a lighter color I think it would of turned out better... Or maybe if I would have use the rear wheel instead of the front.... Where are you other photo shop pro's to give me some pointers?

I love the rusted out top part, but it's the half done body work below the trim line that I don't like. Covering that is the only reason I want to paint the bottom. I doubt that I'll wax the rust. Painting the bottom is lower on the list. At this point(may change mind 5min from now) I'd rather leave the paint and be able to drive it in. I think I'll tint the windows before I mess with the paint.

I could powdercoat the rims, but since they are a set for Paula's 521, I won't PC them if they go red.....she doesn't like them red and it won't go with the color we plan on painting the 521.

Thanks for all the input! Glad you guys like it! I know a lot of guys are going to be seeing this first hand, but I've posted most of the pics so the guys that won't be at Canby can see it. The guys that come to Canby will be less impressed when they see the runs and flaws.....oh well :)

hhmmm....maybe I should sandblast the wheels then give them a bath in acid :) That will rust them up nicely!! Still undecided. The red wheels make it look like the rig is intended to look that way. The black rims make it look like it's still in progress or unfinished. The original paint shows more of the history of the rig.

Thanks again Ice baby!!!!

All red seems to keep it's proportions better. Black bottom seems to make the cab look taller. Red wheels seem to shorten the length of the rig, making it look stubbier. At least that's what I'm seeing.

oh hey.....what about leaving the very bottom red....the second body line. That would make the black simply a center panel like the wood grain inserts used to be. Time for a nap.....umm...yes...I am at work :)

Yeah I also like the painted red wheels, I think making the cab shorter looks great :D The flat black is growing on me... Even with the pics its hard to decide what is the BEST look...

I like how I get to see the truck progress before the show. I always tell my GF its like meeting a movie start. You read about them and see there progress, never actually seeing them in real life. When you finally do its awesome. When I went to Sema I saw hundreds of cars I read about, I would ask the guy at the display questions about the car that where very car specific, they would look at me like I was crazy. Or not even know what I was talking about because they just work there and don't have the love. There are also parts of the proses we do not get to see when it is at the show, like a before shot or how rusty the engine bay was. Okay I'm done :D gotta go work on my dime :D

Glad you're lovin' this stuff so much buddy....makes it worth taking the time to snap pics and post :)

I already have a quart of flat blk, but I may go pony up for some satin. I'm expecting the rig to be like this for a couple of years, so why not.

Time to go work on mine!!! Vacation starts tomorrow morning! Gotta get a list going of all the stuff I still need!

Damm the motor looks sweet in there! What are the plans for the valve cover? Oh & i see that the floor section comes off for easy access, wonder if my 65 has the same setup. I like all the paint ideas but id go all 1 color, but no matter what it'll still have the "kool" factor!

Worked a bit on the alt bracket today. Didn't take pics of the cardboard templating, but I was on a roll.

The first 4 simply show how I bent the metal(3/16") for the bracket.

The last 4 is the main piece to the bracket. I'll have to weld another piece on to hold the back of the alt, but the front will be pretty dang solid considering it was bent. I still have to get the holes drilled to hold it to the block, but I was pleased that I was able to use the front plate as an extra support for the bracket. Should be rock solid when it's done.

Thought I'd come back and add the rest of the bracket pics so guys don't have to scan another 3-5pgs to find them. :)

Thanks Mark. Glad you like it. I still have a long way to go!! The valve cover is already figured out and about half done. Your floor should have that access cover. If you have a column shift, you will also have a rubber cap which is right over the dip stick.....umm...that's the tranny dipstick....not the one that drives it!!! :)

I've got some catching up to do on the thread, but IT'S ALIVE!!!! Still a ton of work to do, but it fired up on the first try. Started it twice on starting fluid, then hooke up fuel and ran it for about 30sec. The elect ign makes in incredible spark!!! tested it before the first fire to make sure I even had spark....WOW! I don't think my 510 or Paula's 521 have spark like that. Anyway.....
