Most of Idaho's potatoes go to McDonalds actually. We make more than 1/2 the fries for McDonalds. Washington actually exports more potatoes per capita than Idaho does at 20% where Idaho is around 33% but again most going to McDonalds fries. Even though it says "Famous Potatoes" on our plates, it is more because of the advertising success the state has had with selling its potatoes. Idaho is actually the gem state, not the potato state. Many of the gems in the world can be found all in Idaho most importantly the garnet. Not only does idaho have the largest garnet mine in the nation but is the only place in the world besides Africa that the star garnet can be found. :) Quote Link to comment
