datzenmike
See so many 4 cylinder swaps the VG is a refreshing change. Quote Link to comment
Jesse C.
Those are pretty cool. I can still imagine a nicer design, but I like them One must also keep in mind that these are "Race Only" items. I am sure with some mild tweaking here and there, these could look a bit more user friendly, but not to pedestrian. The reason I like the VG and putting one in my car is simple, it is reliable and it makes good torque. In a car that barely weighs anything, that counts quite a bit. And it does not have to work too hard to do it to achieve said points. I am building the VG34 with the VQ45 pistons and some 300ZX cams. Should make just enough power to get out of its own way! Three B's Racing
My engine is actually a VG33 - from a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. 3.3 liter. I am using the 1987-1988 Nissan 200sx SE intake and exhaust manifolds. SR20 is a 4 cyl. I'd run any stock (headers are ok) VG 510 with my stock NA S14 SR20DE. That would be a good race me thinks. Does great work, I've just never thought it looked pretty doing it. I love the vg34 build. What are you running it with? Carb, jwt ecu, etc? 1 Quote Link to comment

Running stock 300ZX ECU and harness with a 87 200ZX VG intake. Headers, 300ZX cams and a 240SX Throttlebody. Trying to make it as reliable as possible, as I plan to drive it everywhere. Might even try to make Canby! 2 Quote Link to comment

Rjawm
Ok, I gotta a noob question about VG's, specifically Z31. Are they front sump? Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Nope. Front sump vg comes from infiniti m30 or Nissan quest or mercury villager 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Ok, I gotta a noob question about VG's, specifically Z31. Are they front sump? This. Nope. Front sump vg comes from infiniti m30 or Nissan quest or mercury villager But to expand further, Z and truck VGs are all rear sump. FWD cars/vans are all front sump. And I think the S12 is front sump also. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
All of this applies exclusively to the single cam vg's only. I have no idea if dual cam oil pans would fit so leave them out of the equation. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
The one dual cam 510 I have seen, the owner said he would NOT do it again. 1 Quote Link to comment

TENDRIL
That's turbo twice also Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
They are pretty motors. Which is why they aren't part of our discussion here on ugly vgs. The dett is almost a perfect cube with manifolds turbos etc. I had a z32 tt that I pulled the engine out of. Total nightmare. I'm pretty sure they built that engine and then stamped the z out around it. 2 Quote Link to comment
Rjawm
Everything I ever heard about the Z32 was that they did exactly that, designed the car, specifically the engine bay, around the motor. May have just been urban myth, I can't seem to find anything to support it lol. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
You want support? Look in that engine bay :) Quote Link to comment
mattyhacks71
This is clean.. / This is nice, whats the story on these blowers? Factory option? I'd like to see more of the whole car if anyone has the pics Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Its the same car as the second picture in the thread. Its the Xterra super charger that makes no boost. They didnt end up using it. 1 Quote Link to comment
mattyhacks71
Right. Those did nothing except get in the way of fixing coolant leaks Quote Link to comment
ericsb210
In regards to the topic title. An engines beauty should be gauged by the ear, foot and seat of pants. The eye can be very deceiving. Quote Link to comment
