Tametamale
Hey guys, I've been trying to grab my hands on a 510 for a while but they really never come up for sale. But finally I saw an ad pop up and I'm wondering if it's actually worth the asking price? Here's the ad in question http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/4908715684.html. I messaged him about the car and he said that the car has an exhaust leak and that he was going to repair that. Ive noticed that it's pretty rusted also. Sorry for so many questions, I'm a newb at buying a datsun. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
john510
After reading the ad twice,i would say NO.There is probably more rust that can be seen. 3 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
L16 and a dogleg????? No For that it should have an engine swap and a way better 5 speed, 280sx struts and brakes. It's a nice almost un-modified 510 but .... so what? Only thing unique is the asking price. 2 Quote Link to comment
Tametamale
Alright cool! Yeah I'm sure judging by how bad the roof is im 100% sure there are worse rusting in the car. I'll keep looking out for more! Thanks guys 1 Quote Link to comment
uieluck
NO! Even before I opened up the CL ad and read everything.. And still, NO. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Its not worth that, and is that a vinyl top? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes, well it sure looks like it. They were available in black and beige. There will be two seams running front to back about 6" in from the side drip rails. Maybe that is primer? Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
No. For $8000 you can get a sweet condition 510. This one is not sweet 1 Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Orange County CA and rust? Unless the owner parked it at a beach parking lot to avoid airport parking lot chargers that's a very prominent warning sign! A title search might disclose prior locations. Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
That car is a beater, its not worth 3k in my book. Looks like krylon rust tough primer on the roof, I almost guarantee its not a California car. An 8k car is either cherry with l20b and zx 5spd, struts, brakes or good shape with a dual cam engine swap. I'm surprised theres no chubby blonde with a wrecked grill like the fool on eBay. 1 Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
$8,000 will get you one hell of a 510 from DatsunVille. 1 Quote Link to comment
That4doorKiD
you can get a decent swapped 510 for about $8K ! This 510 is not worth half the price based on what I've seen P.S. the rust is probably in other hidden areas too. Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
She wasn't chubby, just had some tig ol bitties! I guess that's one good thing about Cali, she's borderline fat to me. Chubby chicks try harder though. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Man, if that 510 is worth 8k I'm driving a damn gold mine! Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
I'd say 2k at the most if the seller gets the new roof put on, if not then offer $1,200 stating the problems including the extra 5k it will take to get it to be a 3.5k- 4k car 1 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Man, if that 510 is worth 8k I'm driving a damn gold mine! With all the dust inside and the thick layer of dirt on all the surfaces,, i would say it's more like a coal mine. 3 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
With all the dust inside and the thick layer of dirt on all the surfaces,, i would say it's more like a coal mine. I just had it professionally detailed by my girlfriends dads Mexican neighbor year before last. 4 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
It appears to be a fair shell, a few wrinkles. Nothing else mentioned really adds anything to the value. If worth the asking thenthere should be more pictures to support this. Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
I wanted 510 too but it's prices like this that made me end up grabbing a 2002. 2 Quote Link to comment
