Illegal Immigration Costs California $30.3 Billion

A Year Healthcare For Illegal Immigrants: $4.02 Billion

Providing  healthcare for illegal immigrants in California imposes significant costs, while also increasing wait-times and decreasing the overall quality of care (by lowering the physician-to-patient ratio).

Illegal immigrants withdraw roughly $2.28 billion from Medicaid in California, and cost roughly $1.3 billion in emergency services (they are treated, but do not pay).

Together, these hard costs equate to $4.02 billion per year.

However, these numbers don’t necessarily reflect the true costs of illegal aliens on the healthcare system, because they don’t quantify opportunity costs (we could be investing in better technology, or more doctors, rather than treating illegal immigrants) or damage caused by the burdened system (pain and suffering caused by long wait times, lost productivity etc.).

You have a good paying job, Your part is only going to go up.

And don't forget Chicago.....

yup. run be a certified dimocrat nutjob who used to be Barry Obama's Chief of Staff.

Without Emanuel, who is going to mail all of the dead fish?

From sending dead fish to a pollster to naked shouting matches in the shower with congressmen, Emanuel has left an indelible mark on Washington in his long, multifaceted D.C. career.

There is the story of Emanuel sending the pollster the dead fish, replicating a scene in “The Godfather” and screaming he wanted President Clinton’s enemies “dead!”

So the print media down here is reporting that President Trump recently handed the German Chancellor a bill for, wait for it, 490 Billion dollars which he believes Germany owes Murica for NATO.

Dafuq did he work that out?????

I have not heard that up here. Paying to keep you safe for decades ain't cheap.

Proof that no form of governance will make everyone happy. Especially the middle and lower classes.

99% correct.

Bhutan opened its borders for the first time. Since then, it has gained an almost mythical status as a real-life Shangri-La, largely for its determined and methodical pursuit of the most elusive of concepts – national happiness.

Very limited tourism. one place I would like to go see first hand.

NATO members are encouraged to contribute 2% of their GDP. Germany averages about 1,800 billion GDP so 36 billion a year. 490 billion is about 13 years worth by these figures. So good luck prying 26% of Germany's GDP out of their wallets this year to pay the bill.

California picked the wrong time to be the ultimate democrat. Moon Beam's management of state money is like 5 bucks in the pocket of an alcoholic who sees a sign on the door of the 7-11 MD20/20 5 dollars a fifth. Add in a influx of illegal immigrants. Crumbling infrastructure. On top of that the failing dam. Good time not to be in the golden state.

While the crisis is getting worse, why not pile on another massive debt.

Politicians love illegals.

all the illegal wants is to come here, cut the politicians' grass for $8 an hour, happily live at the bottom rung of our socio-economic ladder in undying gratitude and blind voting allegiance to the party that lets him stay here illegally while also empowering these same crooked pols by not knowing his rights and thus making our elected leaders' jobs so much less stressful.

heck, an amnesty-support politician has constitutionally clueless third-worlders kissing his feet for the privilege of scrubbing his toilets for slave's wages while you mean Americans expect him to do his job, understand that he is a public servant (not a master) and spend your tax dollars wisely! You actually think the politicians should work for a living! Well, that's a hatecrime directed at our ruling class!

A politician who supports illegal immigration is like a lazy mechanic in a shop. If this lazy mechanic fraudulently found a way to hire ten unemployed people at the boss's expense to make his job easier do you think the boss would just shrug and say, "Oh, well - guess I can't do anything about it and those illegal hires do need jobs." when payroll caught the scheme? Hell, no! The boss would fire the mechanic, his helpers and anyone within the company who had aided in the scam.

The politicians work for us. We are their bosses. We are trying to fire them for not doing their jobs and they are complaining that we are too tight with company funds (in this case tax dollars) because we don't let them hire as many employees as they see fit to make their jobs easier while still failing to even complete their basic assigned tasks (fixing the roads and spillways springs to mind).

You do know what your 4500 dollars went to pay for right,....the 10 illegal aliens that came through the ER that morning. Hello sanctuary state California. You are paying for it up front and through the wazoo.

this video is from 2005, before Cali became the sanctuary it is now.

an article from 2007 stated the cost of an illegal immigrant birth was just north of 10,000. Could not find a newer price, but I am sure it is more.

Still batter off then Arizona.

A Year Healthcare For Illegal Immigrants: $4.02 Billion

Providing  healthcare for illegal immigrants in California imposes significant costs, while also increasing wait-times and decreasing the overall quality of care (by lowering the physician-to-patient ratio).

Hey 125CLS, Thanks for following up on this. Much appreciated. I started doing some research of my own and found some solid data that made it much easier to understand the big picture. I tried to find raw data to help me better understand the meaning of the figures being thrown around in the Illegal immigrant influence on health care. It also exposes cherry picked points that potentially support an agenda, or viewpoint.

As you likely know, the US national health expenditures will hit $3.35 trillion this year, which is $10,345 for every man, woman and child. There are 38 million people in California so if you multiply that by $10K each that's $380 billion a year that Cali spends on health care. If Illegal Immigrants cost us $4.02 Billion a year, although that is a huge number, in the context of a state the size of Cali it's a very small 1.2% of the total spent. 1.2% of my $4,500 saline bag bill is about $50. Not saying that's chump change, and as sure as shit I'm not saying I should be happy to pay it, but I think it's counterproductive to blame the cost of our fucked up health care system on Illegal Immigrants. Greedy people in power created this mess, and they are fighting like hell to maintain the rigged system that so handsomely lines their pockets. I'm also sure those power establishment fucks cherry pick data points and present them out of context so we'll point our finger at anyone else but them.

Just like left wing socialist groups, the source of the article you posted, the National Economics is a right wing nationalist organization with a clear agenda. Unfortunately we are letting these extreme polarities define the conversation as all or nothing, capitalism vs socialism, good vs evil. It's hard not to get caught up in "the cause", but if you can let that passion go, there is WAY more room for rational conversation, and there are many more options than just bleeding heart Single Payer, or a heartless Unregulated Free Market system of health care. I honestly don't think our political system is in a position to fix this shit right now, because they're all in on the take. In the words of Jack Nicholson in Batman 1989 "This town needs an enema" The first hunk of festering shit stain that needs to be flushed out of Washington's colon is Citizens United. Then we need to shove real campaign reform up their ass. Get hidden drug and insurance company money out of the election process, and have a light of day accounting of every penny and second spent on lobbying our appointed representatives. Only then can we hold those shady fuckers to task. If Trump actually wants to overturn the establishment, drain the swamp, and Make America Great Again, that should be the first thing on his agenda.

This is interesting, Kaiser Family Foundation study. Honestly don't know enough about this organization to get a sense of their agenda but the study provided 85 linked references. That's pretty stout.

http://kff.org/health-reform/fact-sheet/the-california-health-care-landscape/

I believe it would just be called common sense.

If the person coming in for treatment is not paying for the: Doctors time, nurses time, intake peoples time, bed sheets/cleaning people, mediation, and everything else that comes with a hospital visit, where do you think the moneys coming from?  Nothing listed above is free.

Im not a political person, but holy shit, that type of dumb ass thinking is why we're fucked in the first place.

What type of "dumb ass thinking" are you referring to when I'm asking CSL for information heywier?

I found one reference to this. 300 million euro. But was not reported by any MSM that I saw this weekend. MSM here is still hung up on grasping at Russian straws and blaming trump for Ryan care failing.

So in terms of dumb ass thinking if I may,

The fact that two different conclusions with same reality depending on agenda can be debated proves the point. Seemed obvious now talking quantitatively "not that bad"?

We should be able to understand using imagination that regulation always costs , so keeping your doctor and plan with lower premiums was not going to happen.

Kind of like the thinking on CO2

Doubt that really cleared it up :) I tried

In the 20's, when the US was experiencing a similar rush of immigrants from Ireland, Italy, etc. Blue Cross was developed to disuade private entities from taking advantage of the sick. Levelizing costs and providing care to those who otherwise wouldn't have care. This was a huge, pivotal point for US health care. I'd say it was an influx of immigrants that shaped healthcare before the ACA. Today's influx is merely doing the same. Creating a crisis is unfortunately the most motivating way to beget change. So here we are. How do we levelize costs and provide care to those whom otherwise would not have care... Think, think , think.,.

I was talking about healthcare and how to best handle the uninsured. Comparing it to the last influx of immigrants. I think you are referring to illegal immigrants. Similar, but completely opposite with reference to tax money.

We are making illegal immigrants much more common with immigration blocks and hinderances. But that's a separate issue.

I am hoping this wave of immigrants opens people's eyes to what big med has been doing to us for decades. It's reached a boiling point. We keep adding salt to prevent boil over. We need to fix the issue, and my hope is that folks look at that instead of reading purchased media reports. Perhaps shit just needs to get fucking Aweful before people will notice.
