Rjawm
Did Trump reverse an insecticide ban after getting $1M from the company that makes it? The known neurotoxin is in the same chemical family as sarin nerve gas. https://www.metro.us/president-trump/trump-epa-chlorpyrifos-dow-chemical Link to comment
paradime
Those lost FBI texts messages were found today. That didn't take long. For months, if it's not another Hillary revelation, Fox has been running on one FBI anti Trump conspiracy after another. The closer the DOJ comes to the Whitehouse, the louder and more outrageous Hannity's accusations become. Is it suspicious though that after one highly incriminating "lost" FBI text was somehow found and leaked to the media, a few days later, suddenly all the missing texts were found and it shows the innocuous context of the leaked message? The whole thing is starting to look like a negative PR setup designed to draw out another Trump accusation of conspiracy in the FBI. As soon as news of the suspicious text hit, the Trump attack machine was all over it like white on rice. And in the end it neatly exposed a lack of veracity in Trumps attacks on the DOJ. Sounds like knight to pawn 3, Check Just like OJ's defense, it's obvious Trumps team is accusing the entire justice system of conspiratorial political bias. Trump tried the same thing when he said the latino judge hearing the Trump University civil suit wasn't able to be impartial because he was Mexican. It's like watching a shitty episode of Days of Our Lives, but this shit would be too unbelievable even for a soap opera. Link to comment

paradime
Well, at least it's a nice change of pace... CNN is more of the same bias propaganda brain washing, they're just fucking you in the left ear is all. The first amendment grants these "news" media corporations broad protections of their freedom of speech, but instead of using it to inform and serve the public, is it any surprise they us these powerful freedoms as bias weapons of propaganda in the interests of political aka corporate power? I wander how long a news organization with absolute dedication to integrity would last in todays tell me what I want to hear designer reality society. A news organization dedicated to the idea that objective enlightenment of the public feeds justice and is the foundation of democracy. Rather than parrot the voice of power, they would hold power accountable and give voice to the voiceless. Protect free and open exchange of information that is accurate, fair and thorough. Would be held to high standards of integrity and take responsibility for the information they provide. All sources would be identified clearly and when that's not possible instruct the public to consider motivations and the reliability of such sources as compromised. Fight to ensure the public’s business is conducted in the open, and that public records are open to all. Never distort facts or take information out of context Always treats subjects, sources, colleagues and the public with respect. Journalism is not a license for arrogance. Show compassion for those affected by events and the intrusion of news coverage. In the absence of breaking news never divert public attention to mundane or lurid curiosities. Although the public’s right to know has been inflated to an insatiable curiosity for morbid detail, until legal charges are brought they would defend a suspect’s right to privacy and a fair trial. Merica forgets that journalism's first responsibility isn't to entertain but to serve the public interest, and it's the public's responsibility to hold them accountable for that privilege. It comes down to this quote again "If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn't sit for a month". Theodore Roosevelt Link to comment
datzenmike
Journalism was failing in the late '80s. The internet just finished it off and it coasted along on inertia and no one noticed much. Every internet blogger was a journalist. New generation journalists grew into the job lacking integrity, character and were morally compromised. It took Donald Trump to finally put a bullet in it's head. What is the point of CNN anyway? to make all other look better? How can they hold their heads up? 1 Link to comment

So you're saying we should just accept that the bed rock of our democracy/Republic is nothing but corporate establishment propaganda? After the dark days of Citizen Cain Randolf Hurst, the US flocked to figures of journalistic integrity like Walter Cronkite and Edward R Morrow who brought down Joseph McCarthy. After our journalistic demise culminating in the 2016 shit show and Trump driving a stake in the heart of our decidedly corrupt institutions, I think Americans are ready to value integrity again. In such a crisis as a corporate monopoly on reality, what would Teddy Roosevelt do? Link to comment
