Can't see the front of the engine to confirm L20B. Could be that the present owner was told this and believes it.

The SSS was based on the 510 two door sedan. By definition a Coupe is two door so how can his have 4dr. SSS cards? Again, could be that the present owner was told this and believes it. Maybe they are a deluxe option?

Mike,

"The SSS was based on the 510 two door sedan" is not true at all.

SSS was an optional trim level on 4dr Sedans and 2dr Coupes.  (I don't know if that trim level was ever offered in Japan on 2dr sedans or wagons)

So not all SSS cars were coupes and not all coupes were SSS.

Other sedan trim levels were standard, DX, and GL.

I've only ever seen standard and SSS coupes.

There are also "Sports" badges out there but I've never learned if that was a trim level or something else entirely.

That said, I don't know if his door panels are from a SSS 4dr or another model.  Later models had an SSS badge in the door panel, maybe earlier ones didn't?  Otherwise his door panels look just like my DX door panels.

Not that I have a link or anything but..

There is a local auction house (Rt 66 Auctions I think) that had a 510 wagon listed. Right fender was trash, Rt 1/4 panel was somewhat beat up, both bumpers were bent up, the lift gate had some pretty good damage, the car was an autotrajic, and looked to have been sitting for about 20 years.

It sold for $4416.00, in New Mexico. To me, it was a $1500.00 car at best but what do I know.

Sold for $199,000 on 12/23/22

Looks like the Hot Wheels I bought for about a buck a piece will be the closest I get to owning one of these.
