a.d._510_n_ok
hey, can I use those AC recharge kits you see in the aisles at the auto parts stores and Wal-Mart on my A-10 without any kind of retrofitting? my AC system is still all intact and all original. pretty sure it just needs refrigerant to keep me from driving home in ball soup. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
No. You need to retrofit from R12 to R134. You also need to make sure you don't have a leak and that the system actually operates. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
R134a runs at higher pressures as well as has smaller molecules, so the hose clamps and hoses used in R12 applications won't work as well as ones rated for R134a. It won't take long to leak out. Quote Link to comment
a.d._510_n_ok
dammit. thanks, ya'll. Quote Link to comment
THEa10wagonsss
just putting this out there if anyone knows of someone on the east coast ny area that would like a A10 mines up for sale Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
dammit. thanks, ya'll. Screw it. Shoot some in there and see what happens. I actually have a few cans of R12 kicking around too... Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
R12 is bad for the environment if exposed to the air. And it's worth a lot of money. Be responsible. That's a lot of beer money to waste. 1 Quote Link to comment

a.d._510_n_ok
I got the AC stuff in but my compressor isn't kicking in though the clutch is free. on a GM or Ford I know where to run a jumper wire to the compressor but on my Datsun it looks as though the lead input wire is a ground wire. help??? Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
It's not a ground. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
It's not a ground. Yeah, it can't be. Or there would be nothing to energize the clutch. Quote Link to comment
