jon521
i would like to reindex them soon! i dont have a place of my own to do it though my brother might let me use his driveway. it sounds simple enough. Quote Link to comment
Royal Sierra
What are your seats out of? Quote Link to comment
jon521
i was told a mazda b series. they fit nicely, in my opinion Quote Link to comment
jon521
Reindexed the torsion bars yesterday, way easier than i thought! i went down two splines and the bars turned all the way down. its a bouncy ride, but damn, i love how that front end sits. im going to start looking for some 4in blocks for the rear, hopefully that will get rid of most of the rake. before After 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
2 splines,i like it alot.your truck is so clean and i love red, keep up the good work. Quote Link to comment

skyblue
yes!!!! looks freaking sweet! great job. i'm getting some 4 inchers too. just gotta get my drive shaft shit together. Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
Slick truck. ALMOST makes me wish I didn't go huge and 4x4 on mine. ;-) Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I like the rake myself. PS if your going to go 4 inch in back best to put a spacer in betwwen the carrier bearing. Otherwise you going to have bearing wear and or noise issues. Personally I would raise the front up maybe 1/4 or a half inch UP and call it good. Quote Link to comment
jon521
thanks guys! hainz, i was actually thinking about raising it a tiny bit, but i really like how it is right now... and i like a little rake, but id like to have it closer to flat Quote Link to comment
jon521
i went to a euro meet the other night with my friend who has a vw mk2, and i got a few odd looks, but one of the big vw/bmw guys there loved my truck. i helped my brother move his bike the other day, just about evened my rake i finally got a real temp gauge in. i really like how it looks, it doesnt look too aftermarket, the mount is similar to the stock under dash mounts (except for size). and it matches my tach haha. so when its warmed up all the way, the my temp goes back and forth between 160 and 170, but never goes above 170. from what ive read, thats some what cold. the thermostat is only a few months old, but i dont remember what temp i got. the plan is to put in electric fan soon. should i get a new, warmer thermostat? Quote Link to comment
wayno
My tach is in the same position as yours, but I broke my speedo needle off breaking in the LZ23, I miss that needle. I am curious, didn't your stock temp gauge work? Why are you replacing your stock fan with an electric? I am a big fan of stock equipment, the stuff lasts forever almost, and it is usually electric, already in the existing wiring harness, so one doesn't have to worry about oil lines getting melted or pinched, or wires getting melted and shorting out, and the stock fans are, well, indistructable unless in an frontend accident. jon521
yes it worked but it was reading about 3/4 of the way up, which seemed hot to me, so i was wondering what the actual temp. was. it is also nice knowing the exact temp. in my opinion. i was to replace the stock fan because 1. to take a load off the motor/increase fuel economy, 2. my clutch fan pulley has a lot of play, and 3. the fan rubs the bottom of my radiator sometimes, and that might have to do with #2. So im going to get my truck running at the temp that is best for the L20b, then i will buy a sensor for an aftermarket fan i already have pulled fromt the junkard. then ill set the sensor to come on according to whatever thermostat i have. wayno
I don't know what has play on your fan, but if the waterpump shaft has play, it's time to replace it(waterpump), I have seen them wobble around and destroy a radiator, and likely the waterpump will fail soon anyway. My water temp gauge reads just over half on a normal day, and gets a little higher on a hot day. Quote Link to comment
jon521
so ive hit 2 car shows in the past week here are a few pictures These are from gervais, tiny show, ended up leaving early these are from a car show for high school students, i got in even tho i graduated last month :) that high school show was also a small swap meet, and i was able to pick up some nice beauty rings for 5 bucks :) im running them without the caps for now, just kinda wanted a different look, ill pop the caps back on there some time. what are your opinions on the beauty rings? Quote Link to comment
wayno
As I said before, everything I own has stock wheels with caps and beauty rings, it's the only way to go unless your into after market wheels. It looks good, and it will look good with the caps on there also. Quote Link to comment
skyblue
they look good. they make the tires look a little bigger to me. but i like it. and only $5, cant go wrong. Quote Link to comment
jon521
so i was tired of riding on my shocks, so i pulled them out for now, and in doing this i found that my sway bar was resting on something on the frame, so i took that off for now as well, so i can tweek it a bit and get it back in there so it doesnt ride on anything. as far as my shocks go, i am going to start doing research on extending my shock tower, or looking into air shocks. ha when i took my shocks off, it went down all the way to resting on where the bump stops would be :D so i adjusted the torsion bars up so ive got about 1/2 inch before i hit. i will be putting a bump stop back it, whether i make one or pick something up from energy suspension. here it is alll the way down, i wish i couldve left it that low...i wouldve broken something tho here is how it sits now you cant tell in the pics but still pretty raked, i need to get some bigger blocks for the rear..... skyblue
so these pics are with no shocks? Quote Link to comment
jon521
yes. the first one is as low as it will go, metal to metal without shocks. then bottom two are with it raised about 1/2 an inch Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Why not just shorter shocks? Quote Link to comment
jon521
from what ive read, 40 year old 521 shocks are about as short as you can get. at least thats what ive read in the past. Quote Link to comment
jon521
heard that they are about the same, but i will look them up Quote Link to comment
skyblue
did you ditch the shocks to go lower? or...? Quote Link to comment
