Jester
That's funny. I'm getting better at finding stuff from other rigs and making it work. I still need to find one more Pulsar NX trunk seal for my hatch. Found one and it fits awesome. Still trying to find a door seal that will fit on my drivers side door. That and window felts. I know there out there for sale, but, the hunt is half the fun for me. Quote Link to comment
Jester
Ordered and paid for my new 280ZX struts today. They will be setup with cut down 280Z springs. Steve Eperly says this is a great setup for a VG car. Seeings how this the route I am taking, I am getting them built for it now. Should be done tomorrow afternoon. Now I HAVE to get my wheels blasted. I can't run my current wheels with the new struts. Jesusno2: How long would it take to get them back if your Dad did them? Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
I dunno just depends how busy they are up their did ya wanna coat em too? Quote Link to comment
Jester
No. I just want the paint taken off so I can start polishing the outer lip. Quote Link to comment
yello620
Is it just rattle can paint?? Do you want all the paint on the wheels to come off? Post a pic of the wheels. Quote Link to comment
Jester
I thought about using some chemical stripper but wasn't sure what it would do to the aluminum. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Maybe try some thinner on a rag first? Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I used oven cleaner to take the clear coat off the snowflakes I had for the 510. Quote Link to comment
Jester
How long did you let it soak Mike? I thought about trying lacquer thinner. Maybe I'll try that first. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
It bubbled up pretty quickly. If there's paint on the backside....maybe try it there first. :) Quote Link to comment
yello620
I use a can of old brake fluid to soak the paint off of old model cars. I just drop the painted parts into a coffee can filled with brake fluid. Would work on rattle canned wheels too, but you dont want brake fluid on the tires. Quote Link to comment
Jester
It bubbled up pretty quickly. If there's paint on the backside....maybe try it there first. :) No paint on the back sides. I'll try a couple different methods and post up some pics to document how things go. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I used aircraft remover on my zx 6 spokes. Aluminum was fine. Then just required a bit of a polish. You can see 510Keeper has used this in one of his recent builds. Quote Link to comment
Jester
Sounds like paint stripper is going to be the ticket then. I'll see if I can find time tomorrow to get them stripped. Quote Link to comment

Jester
So where do you guys with wagons get your longer U-bolts? I can't seem to find crap! Picking up my new struts next week and want to drop the back at the same time. Thanks jes Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Baxter or Knecht's....the diameter is wrong. I squeezed them a bit in the shop press to get them right, but most guys just pinch them to get them started, then crank them down until they form to the diff tube. Quote Link to comment
rusty12ver
Betts truck center in oakland/san leandro can make some up for you. Send them a u-bolt and say how long you want it. They will be made, however the thread pitch is usually in standard and not metric. Quote Link to comment
Jester
I'll probably go with what Mike suggested. Sounds cheaper. After all, I am a cheap Datsun bastard! Quote Link to comment

Jester
I was texting with a friend last night and he suggested I look at Samurai U bolts. Turns out that the Suzuki Samurai differentials are close enough to the wagon for me at 2.56" diameter. SCORE!!! Quote Link to comment
69FJWagon
I uses U bolts for the 66 mustang with a straight 6, My local parts house actually had the kit with 2 " blocks in stock Clayton Quote Link to comment
