]2eDeYe
He did fab motor mounts but...the motor looks like datsun put it in there ;) For comparison Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Z24s came in 1983 models- I know, I have one (was the only year the Z24 came with a non-feedback carb). No matter. My L-series and Z series trannys use 6 bolts. Of course, I left the lower ears on... Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
Well, I've been soo busy with this thing I haven't had much time to take pics. Here's a couple: Motor mounted, fabbing header Had to repair/replace battery box Crossover rod for steering to clear front sump pan 16" (1600 cfm) pusher fan mounted to '85 720 radiator with my custom shroud all bullshit pulled off motor Prepped, primered, and painted engine bay Phew!:) Quote Link to comment
kiznook
I'm worried that your battery might slide around, better make sure you have a good tight hold-down :D Quote Link to comment
510_Dillon
make sure you dont scratch that pretty paint :) Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Jason looking great! I always admire your fab work. How far out untill you fire it up? Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Thats looking so good!! The batter box is rad! What did you use to paint the engine bay? a gun or cans? I love the header to, I can't wait to race :D I was also wondering about your steering link. So your truck was originally a drum break truck. Have you compared the frame/crossmember to a disk break truck? Just wondering if the crossmember location is the same. Quote Link to comment
kiznook
Isn't the shroud on the radiator going to limit flow? or is it hollow to guide the air in from the fan? Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
1600 cfm dude, and it's on the front of the radiator, so I think it will be fine. I hooked it up yesterday and man, that's a lot of air! Quote Link to comment
tangent
If you were going to turbo it... would it fit under the steering column or would you have to plumb it to sit forward and on top of the steering column?? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Isn't the shroud on the radiator going to limit flow? or is it hollow to guide the air in from the fan? Have to agree. As a pusher fan, the shroud has no effect on it, but would stop any natural air flow caused by vehicle speed. My old Omni had a fan and the rad was un-shrouded. The only time the fan came on was in stop and go traffic, or idling. Anything over jogging speed, enough air is pushed through that it stays off. With the shroud on, the only part of the rad that is actually cooling is the circular section behind the fan. Give it some thought. Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
I thought of that, but I need some strength to hold the fan securely. We'll see how it works, I'll change if I have to. Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
Jeff, I did use rattle cans. I used rust-oleum industrial paints.:) Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
O.K., against my better judgement I'm posting some pics before Canby. Here's my EGR block off plate: And here's some of the motor and header: Enjoy!;) Quote Link to comment

Pacific coast Datsun
As always jason your work is clean as hell! I love the valve cover & the header is a 1 of a kind! Quote Link to comment

tangent
Looks tight.. So here is a question, seems like every truck with a KA in it that i see is single cam... Dont think Ive seen a DE in a truck yet? why is this?? Quote Link to comment
71-521
hmmm..rightly so...I wonder why? Quote Link to comment
RB_Shaggs
because i don't have the money to do my swap yet :D that and the only rear sump oil pan that was a de is the one outta the pathfinders if i am not mistaken and they are hard to come by Quote Link to comment
kiznook
pathfinders?? no sir. Frontiers. and probably the 4cyl xterras...even harder to find! Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
The single cam motors are all OBD-I motors and they are easier to wire, and it's easier to remove smog crap withouth throwing the ecu off too much. Get a car motor shaggs, the front sump works just fine. Very minimal mods. No Paul, the motor should be in today. Probably wont be running until saturday afternoon. Jeff and I will be slingin some wire at the show! Quote Link to comment
nismopu
yeah you cant convert a dual cam to rear sump with out modifying the pickup tube. I only know one guy who has done it but never raced his car to see if it sucked oil properly in hard cornering. Frontiers are realloy a single cam block modified with dual cam features, I wish seth would let me pull his oil pan on the fronty engine so I could show people the oil squiters. peace. Bleach
that is a really nice looking engine. Blue is a good color Quote Link to comment
kiznook
The single cam motors are all OBD-I motors except 96-97 HBs Quote Link to comment
