yello620
If you didnt already have custom plates that said "mend", i would suggest paltes that said tic tok How did this thread get to be 26 pages long and the truck doesnt run or have paint yet?? Wait, i know why, cause of pointless post like this one huh?? Keep up the hard work, the clock is ticking for Canby. Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
its looking good Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Thanks :) It doesn't help either when I start up the lathe and find out the DRO isn't reading right.....spent time messing with that instead of working on Mend. ...one night gone. :( I need to take another two weeks off!!! :) Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I made some more progress. I'm looking to get some sleep soon....so I'll probably upload the rest of the vids in the morning.....then hopefully, tomorrow, I'll be putting it all together. :) Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
the vids sure do pack more info in and demonstration than just pics and a writeup, but they sure take a lot longer to watch to extract the info. I don't want to take the time to do both.....so I'm wondering if people prefer the vids or the pics. I'll try to get some pics in. I noticed when I look at other guys threads, I can scan the pics a lot faster....but I also don't feel like I get as much info either. hhmmm....anyway... :) Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
i thinks pics are great maybe video on the thing that are harder Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Great idea :) I would really like to find the time to get better at uploading the "how-to" vids to my site, blueshandsvideo.com.....then just do the pics of the build here. Here's the rest of the vids from yesterday. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I would have liked to have interspersed these with the vids where appropriate, but oh well. :) Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Nice work, and a lot of it for such a little (well big safety) item. It's almost too bad you won't be able to tell how much went into it. :) Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Thanks......I'm thinking the work is pretty well archived at this point :) .....If it makes it to Canby, I'll try to put out a build book. Quote Link to comment
watsonius
Very cool Mike. I agree- vids on the hard stuff, pics for the rest. Don't let the documentation stop you from getting stuff done. Too bad you don't have a "documentation assistant/apprentice". What a great way to learn machine work. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Thanks :) Documentation assistant would be nice :) The one I thought I would have has an "assistant" of her own to watch after. I think I'll try to keep the build thread mainly pics....and a few vids. I'll probably archive the rest of the vids until I can get them up on bluehands. :) I spent nearly a year working on a prototype machine years ago......spent a good deal of that time standing and watching a master machinist make chips. :) I learned a lot!!! Charlie69
Mike this is definitely easy to follow with the videos & pictures I think I could do it!!! Well Maybe!!!LOL I think I will just do lap belts as that was all that came in the 66 520 and only for the driver seat position was stock in mine. But I will install a passenger also. I am impewsed by the time you are taking to make sure your daughter & passengers are sure. Good work Mike. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Thanks Charlie :) I keep getting side tracked on a ball joint mod I'm working on.....not for the truck. :) Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
I think they call it adult onset ADD Mike....lol I have it in the worst way, I go out to the garage to do one thing, and easily get sidetracked, next thing I know I've got 5 projects in the mix...lol Keep up the good work! Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Thanks :) Not sure I'm an adult yet and I've had this prob forever! lol I've got several things going at once. Mend....more brake kits in the works....some glass engraving coming up....some roadster parts in the works.......and at least two more starting soon. Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
the work you do is amazing detailed its just wow good job keep it up and thanks for sharing it all with us Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Thanks :) I don't know that it's really the work that is that detailed as it is I tend to show every detail. :) ....and you're more than welcome. I use these threads as an archive I can refer back to......then I don't have to try to remember everything I've done to it :) When I look back at my NL320 thread....there's stuff in there I've completely forgotten about! mklotz70
You're not going to believe this!!!! I actually did something on Mend this weekend! :o I had to do everything with .030" wire....I didn't have any .023" tips for the welder and I've sold my 110v welder that ran the small wire for me. The inside sheet metal is 22-24ga!!! Wow! That's thin!! The bracing was 14ga and the exterior metal is about 20ga. I know the welds aren't pretty, but considering most guys simply put a big washer behind the sheet metal, I think this will be plenty safe enough :) The vid is kinda lame... oh well :) Quote Link to comment
Javin
Mike, amazing job on that truck! I didnt know you could make body stuff like that! Quote Link to comment
