five1oh
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I have said this before but damn it is really close now. I stopped by Darin's and dropped off the interior last night. Not a perfect match but super happy with the quality of the work. It is so soft and fresh and looks amazing. David stripped the pieces completely apart and repainted black all of the brackets, etc. and then reassembled with new padding material, everything. So good. 🙂 I had him dye the headrests since they were in decent shape and did not want to lose the datsun logo from covering them... five1oh
Darin finished cleaning the rear floors this past week so the interior was ready to go in. Last night by the time I got home I had pics of most of the seats installed. So damn good! Fun fact that I didn't know....the rear parcel shelf is held down with clips just like the door cards...in all the 510s I have had in the past the shelf (if I had one) bounced up and down while driving lol. On to the pics! only a couple... Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
More progress. All the seats are now in and Darin fixed up the trunk by putting HIS spare in temporarily and making me a new cover. Unfortunately the can of air filter housing blue I purchased from Z store in August 2021 did not work so well. Darin thankfully did a test spray after shaking the can for a combined hour almost... Looks absolutely terrible and was a fail so I am happy he test sprayed first. In the spray out pic Krylon is on the left and the custom can is on the right in the black box. I stored the can in good condition but maybe it is just too old. I reached out to Z Store today to see if they are willing to send a replacement can. If not I think we will use this Krylon BAHAMA SEA that Darin found (included pics in case anyone else wants to buy it). You can see a spray out on a different air box to see how close it is. It's definitely off but may work for me. KELMO
I used what I think was a Ford blue (maybe). Not sure that link will work. I may rustle around the shop to see if I still have the can and maybe take a better pic. This seemed close to original, but just another option. Edit: If you click on the date it takes you to the actual post. Also, there is a pic in the Kelmo's Coupe build of the air cleaner. Edited September 15, 2022 by KELMO Quote Link to comment

I am sure you know but the original block color and air cleaner color are different but your block definitely looks close. I know that Ford "Grabber Blue" is much too dark compared to the air cleaner. I painted my first 69 Ford Grabber Blue lol. Darin got the bottom half painted and here is a picture next to the original paint inside of the air cleaner assembly. I hope I am a week away from driving it 🙂 fingers crossed... KELMO
Yep, you guys got closer than I did. The block on the other 1200 is the darker blue. The upside is, ya'll helped me find an "L" motor air cleaner Turns out the paint was Pontiac blue, Duplicolor. Hoping you do get to drive it soon. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Who paints with can spray paint first of all ? Second take the dam air cleaner to a paint shop and match it up. I want updates not fucking show and tell or hide and go seek with can spray paint.lol 1 1 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
Obviously I am SUPER happy with the condition of my car. I have tried to keep everything as stock as possible. Right now the only modifications are FUTOFAB bumpers (that will eventually be replaced with the straightened orignals) and a rebuilt 200sx dogleg 5 speed with knob. The paint is almost all original with the exception of the drivers side rear 1/4 panel and the repairs that Darin made. Here are pictures of all of the dents that I will attempt to get straightened through PDR: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Quote Link to comment

five1oh
The drive home went ok however I felt a bolt or something fall off the car on the way and the TEMPORARY exhaust hit the ground a few times. To be fair the exhaust was ONLY put on so I could drive the car home instead of trailer it and for that it did the job lol. five1oh
So the next morning after getting the car back I went to drive it to drop the kids at school and go to my friends house to talk him into doing my exhaust. I almost couldn't get out of the driveway because while backing up I hear a clunk and the front left wheel locked up. I ended up forcing the car into my court with screeching tire. Despite better judgement I decided to try to drive and drop the kids off. The car went forwards ok but was making a minor ticking noise on the front left and then when I applied brakes I felt and heard metal on metal. At this point I was quite far from my house and only about a mile to my friends so I kept pushing on. Dropped off my son and then got to my friends house to inspect. Turns out the caliper had come loose and the bolt I heard the night before was the top bolt on on the front left caliper. I borrowed my friends truck and went back home and was able to locate a replacement. I ended up checking the others and all of them were hand tight only.....I was a little upset that is how I got the car back from Fitted but thankful nothing worse happened.
