  1. So when I went through my skyline stuff I ran across a factory flashlight that I had bought years ago for the hako. On the Facebook fairlady group someone posted a pic of a flashlight so I just had to pull mine out and put it in the Z. Looks good ? 2. I pretty much finished the front of the car. New tie rods have been installed, I removed the old wheel bearings from the hubs and wire brushed the surface rust and painted the hubs. I also wire brushed and painted the calipers but I still have to install them. To finish off the front I installed the freshly powder coated brake shields and pressed in new bearings and reinstalled the hubs/discs: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr
  3. Getting closer! So I realized that I messed up in the rear so I pulled the struts and my friend Red has a press and the proper tools. We need to remove the wheel bearings from the struts and install them with the stub axles. They should be done in the next couple days but I'm so happy how the backing plate powder coating turned out: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr

  5. Thanks matt. Yes I did not use those.
  6. The hardware is what came with the parts from T3 and they claim it's plated. The button head bolts that attach the TC rod to the LCA were not used. The TC's came with longer bolts that were plated but aren't in these pics. You will see the correct hardware in my updated pics. However the solid pillow ball uppers came with stainless button head bolts that mount through the strut tower to the pillow ball. Should I replace these? Why would T3 sell parts that could fail easily? i have never been a huge fan of their hardware but they sell hundreds of these kits every year and I haven't heard of failures. Should I be concerned?
  7. So I will be switching the factory valve cover out with the BIG letter valve cover so I decided to clean it up. While cleaning it I noticed that there was a hole in it. Last night I went over to my friend Ralph's and he welded it up. Sadly I have no pictures of the repair and it is already being powder coated. While I was there I also used his media blaster to blast the front brake shields and rear brake backing plates. They are also currently being powder coated. 8. Since I am switching to triple mikuni 40's and exhaust I started to document where the factory vacuum/coolant lines go. Also since my car has factory NISSAN installed AC I wanted to leave alone what I could. I will no longer need the manual choke lines or the factory throttle control solenoid for the AC so I removed it and made sure I was able to hook the vacuum lines up to my future setup. Unfortunately the header I purchased WILL NOT fit due to the factory AC compressor and lines being in the way. The good news is that I still needed a header for my skyline so I will be keeping it ? I cleaned up the engine bay the best I could and am very close to being able to install header and carbs once the header arrives. Can't wait! 9. So I bought the adjustable camber/toe bushings but realized they contacted the stock rear end bracket so I didn't run them. Since I have adjustable LCA's I should be able to get the adjustment needed there. 11. So I finished removing the old suspension and got the new suspension on. As previously mentioned the goal was to not change anything that could not be reversed to stock in the future. Rather than pull apart the rear strut and LCA and drum brake setup I elected to pull it off as one piece and replace with new stock brakes, stub axles, etc, etc. Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr
  12. Seriously!!!! I like my stock filler but it gets old.... So I mentioned I swapped out the rear coilovers but forgot to add pics. Unfortunately I couldn't find pics of the new ones that Red made me but here are the old.....they were SO bad! Also on my maiden voyage to the gas station I happened to pass this sweet green 510 in town. Turns out he was from Oakland and helping his brother. We exchanged info and he came with us on the Naveed drive mentioned above. Very cool car that James (the 510keeper) originally sold Billie Joe from Green Day. Turns out the owner Greg does video for Green Day and that is how he ended up with it. 13. Only update I have is that I am having a baby boy (child #3) in the next few weeks so the office needed to be reclaimed for a makeshift baby room. I went through all my parts and I have been slowly bringing more stuff home from Eric's since the car will be assembled at my house once paint is done. It was nice to find things I forgot I bought and also have an opportunity to start restoring the components while I wait for the shell. Last thing I want once I get the shell home is to be delayed because I wasn't ready. That is all.... 14. So one thing I have ALWAYS wanted to do since I got the car was the exhaust..........and it HAD to be a Fujitsobo. Well I was able to buy a used one from my friend Hung and since I was doing the exhaust it snowballed into me having to have a header as well as triple mikunis..... Well I sourced the carbs (40's) a few months back for a great price through my friend Josel at Sidedraft Specialties. As he did with my 510 he is currently rebuilding them. I also sourced a heat shield from Datsun Spirit. CAN"T flipping wait to get this car back together. One thing you will notice is the exhaust system had the front flange cut off so I am going to remove the resonators to make it louder as well as fix that with a new flange. I hope to be updating with some good stuff very soon.
  15. So I decided to finally put the car in the air around January 20th because I thought the T3 parts would be done soon since I ordered them 11/20.......................... Well it is 2/13 and I'm still waiting. Anyways I started dismantling the car in preparation for the suspension. I need to transfer my brakes over to the new struts and because 280 struts are slightly different I purchased some new hard lines for the front calipers. In addition I decided I didn't want to mess with the rear brakes so I sourced some backing plates, stub axles, and bought all new rear brakes from Zcarsource. I contemplated going full disc but the factory brakes are adequate for what I am trying to do and I wanted the ebrake and calipers that fit under stock or 15" wheels. In addition it was much cheaper since my brakes were practically new. I still have to clean up and paint the caliper, rotor, and backing plate but I know it will turn out great: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr
