Public opinion. I'm sure votes were fucked with to some extent, but most likely domestic and just as likely toward the Dems. The big Russia issue is public opinion, and not something to ignore. It's actually our biggest vulnerability. Any "democracy's" biggest vulnerability is public opinion. All that protects us is our electoral college, which was also attacked this election in social media.

I'm a guy who can't stand Hillary. But I'm watching the US get fucked externally while a small group of citizens thinks their day has finally come. But swamp drain, libtard, lock her up, and similar rally cries seem to clean up even the worst stains.

Weren't you suggesting many many pages back that there is no voter fraud ?

I don't think there was any more than normal tampered ballots, or by any reasonable measure, if that is what you mean. Voter fraud as in illegals voting? Not a significant amount of them no. This vote was thrown by foreign agents misconstrued as freedom fighters.

So what exactly was the propaganda that caused people to vote Trump vs Clinton?

You witnessed it here. In Cuz. Talking points delivered to the us on Reddit, 4chan, Twitter, etc. built up with links to RT, Wikileaks, info wars, etc. This is a world class example of how people can be played. Create an enemy and watch the people eager to be on the cutting edge push their piece. Now we watch those same people apologize for pushing those stories and criminal charges get forgotten about. We see no one accountable because it was all so diluted in small nudges for years and the major players were actually US citizens building their own stories based on opinions developed from this misinformation campaign. There was always this huge hype about the next release of emails will be the one, or secret code in the emails, or the emails that she won't release... She's a corrupt politician, but no worse than many we've revered over the course of our nation. But she was hated by Russia, and the Right, and much of the Left. The opportunity was there.

I would love to see what would happen if there was clear evidence of Russian meddling in a presidential election where a republican candidate had lost. Some serious fucked up subjective reasoning going on here. This is a perfect example of when you buy into one parties brand of bull shit, you check your brain at the door. As good as it felt to see Hilary harpooned, take a step back and think if that had happened to your candidate. 2016 was an absolute fucking shit show and EVERYBODY here knows it. But as long as your candidate won, you're willing to look the other way? God bless America, because we are so fucked.

You don't fix corruption in Washington by undermining our Democracy.

So Trump was right and the election was rigged?

Need to slowly shut it down.

Ending the IRS and paying taxes on a post card.. republican talking point

Tax the billionaires 70% - super dem Bernie

They're on the same side but one tells you the right thing and won't do it.

The other tells you something that sounds good but accomplishes the opposite, handing over all RESPONSIBILITY

I guess a flat tax could grow the gov??

But billionaires like big government, they'll pay taxes for power.

Sorry, not buying it. I don't buy anything based on the TV commercials I see. Put forth some candidates who don't suck. Until then, I'm going to vote for the one who most aligns with me on major issues. Yes, Trump is an idiot, but Clinton is exponentially disgusting on the issues that are important to me.

Is it at all possible that the American voter was just tired of the same old crap and decided to shake things up a bit ? never mind what Russia supposedly did.Our own media led the race in propaganda by far.One candidate had a clear message, the other didn't.

Can you give one good reason you consider Trump a traitor ? or is this just you reading too many Liberal twitter and facebook posts ? as far as Russia goes it would be better if they were an ally rather than enemy.I suppose you think they elected Trump too.

Actually I was commenting more on Trump voters than Trump himself even though verbally siding with a foreign (debatably enemy, definitely not ally ) power over our own government at one time would be considered traitorous and dealt with.

Now everyone just seems to wring their hands and say "That's our Trump, awww ain't he cute".

Here is the definition of traitor by the way; "one who betrays another's trust or is false to an obligation or duty".

At the very least, the President just does not say that type of thing even if he believes it.

Trump proto- voters, the right of the right, back in the day, used to chase me and my friends in the city of Boston with those souvenir 12" baseball bats that one could purchase at Red Sox games in Fenway park.

We got chased and had to learn to protect ourselves with fists and hand weapons all because we had funny haircuts and wore funny clothes and listened to funny music.

I will never forget their favorite taunt was " Go back to Russia you f!@$In' commies".

Now it is 40 years later and King Trump seems to have his nose wedged firmly in the crack of Vladimir Putin's ass...and it's not a problem.

I don't think a Trump voter appreciates the irony of that 180 degree sea change but I do.

And now I can say it;

You like Vladimir Putin so much then go back to Russia...

You would have to have been there to go back.

Your 'democracy' has been undermined, co-opted. Surely the very rules it plays by have been used against it. For voters to choke it down, corruption must be eliminated, appear to be or being eliminated or hidden better.

King Trump did it again;

Calling James Clapper a "partisan hack" on Veterans Day no less.

James Clapper flew 73 combat missions in Vietnam while King to be Trump was rubbing his sore feet.

But in the bigger picture it is probably for the best that Trump won the election.

If he hadn't we would be treated to him and his retard fans and partisan hacks whipped into a fury about what a horrible job Hillary is doing.

Now we can watch him fail on his own, and it is funny.

Even if he is a traitorous bastard...

You sound like you should move up here to SB.  We didn't feel the gas tax increase was enough, so we just voted ourselves a 1% sales tax increase, too!  We also just voted in a divisive hack new mayor.  Did I mention housing is incredibly affordable, and everyone lets their dogs $#!7 wherever they want, and they bring them into the grocery stores too!  Who cares who the president is or what he does, when life is so grand locally

I hope you are being sarcastic.

For all y'all in Datsunland, Santa Barbara is like a paradise on earth ( if you can afford it).

Warm and pleasant all year round, plenty of eye candy, not too much urban encroachment, upper middle class/ upper class ethnically uniform, locals call Goleta ( an area next to S.B. city) "the good land".

If you don't like it up there why don't you move?

I guess my sarcasm game has gotten weak.  I plan to move, no doubt, but I don't have an exit strategy yet.  I'd like to move back up to the 5 cities, but man if it hasn't gotten almost as bad as SB in the last 10 years.  SB density just keeps going up, and the prices keep going up.  Great for people who got in, but terrible for anything resembling a traditional family unit.

Can My Children Be Friends With White People?

By Ekow N. Yankah

Nov. 11, 2017

My oldest son, wrestling with a 4-year-old’s happy struggles, is trying to clarify how many people can be his best friend. “My best friends are you and Mama and my brother and …” But even a child’s joy is not immune to this ominous political period. This summer’s images of violence in Charlottesville, Va., prompted an array of questions. “Some people hate others because they are different,” I offer, lamely. A childish but distinct panic enters his voice. “But I’m not different.”

It is impossible to convey the mixture of heartbreak and fear I feel for him. Donald Trump’s election has made it clear that I will teach my boys the lesson generations old, one that I for the most part nearly escaped. I will teach them to be cautious, I will teach them suspicion, and I will teach them distrust. Much sooner than I thought I would, I will have to discuss with my boys whether they can truly be friends with white people.

Meaningful friendship is not just a feeling. It is not simply being able to share a beer. Real friendship is impossible without the ability to trust others, without knowing that your well-being is important to them. The desire to create, maintain or wield power over others destroys the possibility of friendship. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous dream of black and white children holding hands was a dream precisely because he realized Meaningful friendship is not just a feeling. It is not simply being able to share a beer. Real friendship is impossible without the ability to trust others, without knowing that your well-being is important to them. The desire to create, maintain or wield power over others destroys the possibility of friendship. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous dream of black and white children holding hands was a dream precisely because he realized that in Alabama, conditions of dominance made real friendship between white and black people impossible.

History has provided little reason for people of color to trust white people in this way, and these recent months have put in the starkest relief the contempt with which the country measures the value of racial minorities. America is transfixed on the opioid epidemic among white Americans (who often get hooked after being overprescribed painkillers — while studies show that doctors underprescribe pain medication for African-Americans). But when black lives were struck by addiction, we cordoned off minority communities with the police and threw away an entire generation of black and Hispanic men.

Of course, the rise of this president has broken bonds on all sides. But for people of color the stakes are different. Imagining we can now be friends across this political line is asking us to ignore our safety and that of our children, to abandon personal regard and self-worth. Only white people can cordon off Mr. Trump’s political meaning, ignore the “unpleasantness” from a position of safety. His election and the year that has followed have fixed the awful thought in my mind too familiar to black Americans: “You can’t trust these people.”

It is not Mr. Trump himself who has done this. Were it not for our reverence for money, Mr. Trump would be easily recognized as the simple-minded, vulgar, bigoted blowhard he is. It is certainly not the neo-Nazis marching on Charlottesville; we have seen their type before. Rather, what has truly broken my heart are the ranks of Mr. Trump’s many allies and apologists.

Mr. Trump’s supporters are practiced at purposeful blindness. That his political life started with denying, without evidence, that Barack Obama is American — that this black man could truly be the legitimate president — is simply ignored. So, too, is his history of housing discrimination, his casual conflation of Muslims with terrorists, his reducing Mexican-Americans to murderers and rapists. All along, his allies have watched racial pornography, describing black America as pathological. Yet they deny that there is any malice whatsoever in his words and actions. And they dismiss......

f/b.... weren't we just discussing how it can be 'hacked' for propaganda purposes??? I blame f/b for the general degradation of our civilization. Friends and strangers do NOT need to know how rude you are or what you think of them or anything or anyone else.

It was invented for 12 year old's but brings out the 12 year old's in all of us at any age. Stop posting and reading the drivel on f/b. There is no one ever that read a f/b comment and said "holy shit that's right". You will always find someone you agree with and ignore those you don't. If you are susceptible, you will get caught up and dragged down with everyone else. Like lemmings jumping over a cliff.
