I lived the 89 SF Quake, and right after that you couldn't find a U-haul van for months, because all the Non-Californian natives moved back home. Rents fell like ripe fruit, the artists too back the city, and SF had it's greatest creative renaissance sense the 60's. That was the best 5 years of my life, I was in Art school in my early 20's, the underground scene was fucking boiling and shit was cheep. Then the .Com boom wiped everything clean to sell to the highest bidder. The pursuit of $ took over and in less than a year SF lost it's soul. Thank you Willie Brown.
