zerow
timing on everything looks proper on my wagon, its getting spark, getting fuel, but wont start :( duh fuq. when i crank it, the starter sounds good but it dosnt sound like its firing at all. RAGE Does it have electronic ignition? It gets spark when cranking, but won't stay running is classic symptom of a Datsun with points and the secondary (high voltage) circuit is not getting a full 12 volts in the 'ON' position with the ignition switch. Try bringing it up to top dead center and pull cap make whatever tower it is pointing at #1 then go counter clockkwise 1342 (ZeroW) he has had the chain off recently. i believe he has electronic box type ignition. 1 Quote Link to comment

Got it. If he had the chain off recently, it may be off a tooth (or more?). Hopefully, he gets some resolution to the problem. :) Quote Link to comment

Fat510
Dumb question: Does that wagon have the wrong year hatch on it? No, the paint is just faded. Why do you ask? Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
The car has been a sizable wreck sometime in the distant past ,, you can see it where the blended paint has become very noticable along side. There was also bondo over wheel wells that stopped us from rolling the rear fenders very hard. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The rear hatches on the wagons are pretty much the same 78-81- all the A10 sheet metal is, unlike the B310 which had different fenders. Badges changed, though- 3 different kinds for the sides, 2 different kinds for the rear. '79-81 rear badges have "By Nissan" in little letters on the bottom, '78 doesn't. The main difference was optional- some had a rear wiper, with a molded pivot hole and internal structure for the wiper motor. '78s didn't have that option, 80-81 did. Haven't found one in a JY yet though. Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Fuck. Guess who wrecked their datsun. Anyone know if control arms and tension rods from a S110 200SX will fit an A10? 1 Quote Link to comment

bananahamuck
Dibs on the wheels that aren't smashed. :hyper: 1 Quote Link to comment
mhub91
No body damage. Repairing it. Damage to front passenger suspension. Smashed HARD into a curb / barrier going 50mph! Wheel and tire have a little scuff, but they are tucked nicely up into fender. Apparently there was a 90 degree corner and the datsun just wanted to go straight! Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Anyone know if control arms and tension rods from a S110 200SX will fit an A10? They should bolt right up. But I'd bet the control arms are a tiny bit longer, though... Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
No, the paint is just faded. Why do you ask? The way the tail lights line up with the hatch doesn't seem quite "factory". Like maybe the lights or hatch are from a different car? Quote Link to comment
