jalen
Just curious if anybody had a rough estimate of a 1980 datsun 510 with a 3 speed auto. 0-60 time, or if they had a link. and if they had the top speed. i know it weighs about 2200 pounds and the z20 had 88hp from the factory. thanks, Jalen Edited October 29, 2012 by jalen Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I would guess 10 seconds. Most V8 cars took 8 seconds at least until the mid-1980s. Everything started getting faster (even minivans) after that. Top speed probably 105. Quote Link to comment
angliagt
Eventually - I just had to ad that. If you really want to know,I'm sure that I have an original road test here- somewhere. I keep EVERYTHING - don't seem to get rid of anything. - Doug Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
i say about 25 seconds if you dont brake the rear end launching it or the trans 1 Quote Link to comment
DAT510
0-60? two years. Quote Link to comment
jalen
Ohh an about how many feet do you think it would take before it hit 60mph Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
mike is the velocity math wiz but my guess would be 13 to 14 seconds and about 700 feet Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Ohh an about how many feet do you think it would take before it hit 60mph There is many variables in the equation ,,, like ,,, how high is the cliff your pushing it off of.. 4 Quote Link to comment
INDY510
and the angle/steepness of the cliff matters too .... 1 Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
i have a round headlight grill off a 78 for one of these Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
With the 3-speed transmission, 12 seconds for 0-to-60 sounds about right. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
I wonder if a subaru gl loyale wagon is faster ... Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Undoubtedly faster. 1990s! A KIA minivan is faster. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The WPL510 was about 2,100 lbs or just under. The A10 goon for sure more than that. The WPL510 had a 3.889 differential while the A10 goon had a 3.364 rear end. Anybody care to revise their estimate? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The WPL510 had a 1.6 liter engine and a 2-speed automatic The WLA10 had a 2.0 liter engine and a 3-speed automatic, and probably weighed only 100 pounds more Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The PL510 had at least 2 and maybe 3 variations of the BorgWarner 35 and their own JATCO 3N71B automatics and all were 3 speeds. Quote Link to comment
HRH
I'd say more like 15-16 seconds 0-60. 88 hp is flywheel, maybe 60 at the wheels if you're lucky. With the old power sucking auto, it was probably grotesquely slow. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I think 88 is net Matt. Just over a 100 gross, about the same as the L20B. Split the difference 14 seconds to 60 and 18 at 73 1/4. Quote Link to comment
jalen
In other words the cat is super slow. And hitting 60 in about 400 feet is impossible Quote Link to comment
RedBanner
Its front sump, so the real question is why is there no ka in it..... 1 Quote Link to comment

erichwaslike
and the angle/steepness of the cliff matters too .... um arent cliffs usually straight down, or negatively angled backwards under the edge.... like so.... Quote Link to comment
herculesinwyoming
My 1981 datsun 200sx was 0-to-60 some where above 12 seconds i think , its been a long time ago. 80 to 85 was top speed. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
In other words the cat is super slow. And hitting 60 in about 400 feet is impossible Depends if you care or not. I have an L18 auto 710 and it's a blast to drive. Get's lots of looks, some confused like trying to remember something.... others with thumbs up. I would rock an A10. A cars 1/4 mile and 400 ft times is an unfair way to judge them. Quote Link to comment
jalen
Im judging I got a speed tickets. Quote Link to comment
