Whoracle
Just wondering, cause I was At work (mcdonalds >_<) and someone came up to the front counter. Once he was done ordering he asked if the owner of the datsun out front worked here. I told him it was mine and he asked if I wanted to sell it. Told him no and then he asked if I was going to sell it anytime soon lol. Just wondering if anything similar has happened to you guys. My 510 isn't in the best shape either. Quote Link to comment

thisismatt
Pretty much any time I've gone looking for a part or tool to do some work on it. "Whatcha workin on?" "Oh, just an old datsun...a 510." "No shit, huh? I used to have a 510 blah blah blah. Want to sell it?" "No." Quote Link to comment
Jason
I get a guy or two every month leaving me notes on my door wanting to know if I want to sell a Datsun. Turns out they have a pretty unrealistic idea of what I'd sell one for :fu::D! Quote Link to comment
INDY510
It's a 510 thing... I used to daily my 510 for 8 years...... I got a lot of, "wow, I used to have one of those." And, "hey that's a cool old BMW",,, .....................:fu: Thumbs up are from NORMAL people.....................crazy people start telling you about their friend who used to have one.. I got a few notes on the windshield from people wanting to buy it,,, and only one guy who could afford it...... Damm.... I don't miss driving my 510 so much anymore............ Quote Link to comment

purple
All the time, my 59 attracts many non japanese car guys. Been offered as much as $5K cash on the spot.A lot of the American domestic car guys wives want my cute little custom. And it needs a lot of work to be a show car. Whenever I get it running I just drive it as is and don't work on it. Quote Link to comment

MicroMachinery
This happens to me in my 521 all the time. People stop me and try telling me about how they used to have one, and they wish they didn't get rid of it. "Good lil truck".. Yeah, they get that glazed-over look in there eyes, then comes the offer. "You lookin' to sell it?" "Nope, my dad bought it brand new.. not for sale." "Well, if you ever change your mine, here's my number..." Sheesh, I wonder if since it was such a "good lil truck", why'd all these poor saps get rid of em for for that nightmare 85 escort or some bullshit like that? I tell ya.. some peoples' children... Quote Link to comment

Bears510
Yes it's happened to me twice already, well three times technically. I had one person knock on my door and ask about it and went into what sounds like the normal story everyone gets of "I used to have one and have always wanted to get another". Another came up while I was working on it and asked if I was "getting it running to sell" and gave me his number if I ever decide to sell it, which I basicly just told him no that it's gonna stay with me for a looooooong time. The third one was a note found under the wiper with a phone number to call. The note was barely legible I could barely read it and thought my neighbors 5 yo was playing a joke on me..lol! Nissan_Boy85
Oh man, whenever I go to a auto parts store, or wal-mart. I dunno what it is about wal-mart, but whenever I go in there theres at least a note on the windshield, if not someone admiring it and offering me cash for it. They always get the same answer when they ask if I would sell it..."Would you ever sell your first high school ride?" :D Quote Link to comment
fisch
Totally. And of course they only want to give you $500 buck for it!! Happens in my Suzuki swift GTi too. THe few who know that car in the NE take notice when one shows up. To everyone else it is a geo Metro. I imagine it will tripple when the 59 gets out there for the same reason Purple mentions. Hot rod dudes wanting it for their daughters or wives. OR to drop a SBC in it and drag it. They just assume it is cheap because it is a Datsun. And they are right in a way cause we didn't spend that much money on them in the larger scope of things, usually. But they fail to realize how bad we wanted one and how it would take way more money then they bulebook for to part from our hands. I looked 2 years for a 59 that I could afford. Even if I got offered 10k for my '59 it would take forever to find another in as solid as structural shape. And by the time I had one shipped, I don't think I'd be that far ahead. I think I'd pass. Cause I don't really know a car I'd rather own at the moment. Quote Link to comment
freaky510
Everytime i start it and let it warm up some jackass wants to know if its for sale. the sad part is they never have any cash :fu: and we all drive a classic Datsun so I pretty sure we all have had our fair share of tire kickers :fu: Quote Link to comment

Braden
first time i drove my 620 to work i had about 15 old guys ask me if i wanted to sell it, one guy rolls up in a sick sonoma that was bagged, full custom suede interior, candy paint 20,000 dollar truck and offered me 2500 cash for it, i said hell no!!!! when i was in high school my principal begged me to sell my 620 to him lmao!!!!!!!!!!!! no shit though i get that crap daily, just smile and say no, thats what i do Quote Link to comment
stevensonDNL
nope has never happend to me..... Hasn't happened to me either. I've owned my truck for about four months now. I've had only a few people ask about it, of those, only two non Datsun owners that could relate to it's "classic significance". When I'm driving it in town, other drivers either don't notice it at all, or look at it with scorn, as if it's an escapee from PullaPart. I enjoy their reactions. When I told one guy that the truck basically was given to me, he commented: "Gee, that guy must not like you very much..." It's all good. I get satisfaction out of being able to fix it myself, and it's a great work truck, even if it looks ratty. Dan Quote Link to comment

LAYEDOUTB2K
I got that about once a week when I was driving my L320. I could hardly get gas at a gas station without someone trying to spark up a conversation about there's or there parent's old datsun. Last weekend when my dad took his 4 door 510 out for its first test drive, the first place he stopped at someone offered to buy it. He constantly had people knocking on his door when it was sitting in front of the house offering to buy it. Quote Link to comment
derek
my 510 didnt even make it home on the day of purchase before an old guy was asking me if id sell it to him. cant wait till its done so i can drive around though.. Quote Link to comment
