Weird junk yard finds?

Recommended Posts

The Swift forum I am on had a great thread going about the weird things people find at junkyards.

Money, jewelry, skeleton fragments, bloody bullet, rattle snakes, lots of porn, etc. One guy even said he found a dead body where someone had dropped a trans on their head.

Seemed like a fun idea! I know you yard dawgs must have found some crazy stuff. Here is the place to tell it!

I guess he the guy who found him was just looking for parts and walked by a guy under a car, presumably getting parts. But when he walked back by, the guy hadn't moved. So he looked under... trans on the head. Owch!

Weirdest was finding several baggies of powder coke under the Driver's seat of a Mustang II at Airport Auto Wrecking near Gorst. Actually these were sandwich-size Ziplocks, full. We also found close to $75 in the same car, so by the time we picked up the parts we wanted we actually came out a little ahead cashwise. We left the coke in the car.

This Mustang II was decked out in royal purple with purple velvet custom interior, total pimp ride (except it was a Mustang II). Was in the yard because it had been wrapped around a telephone pole. Apparently the cops didn't check it out too well.

The same yard, most of the full-size vans were loaded to the roofs with porn. Very soggy porn.

I think someone on here said they saw a chick giving a guy a bj in the back of the yard.

I've never seen anything weird. Well some of the folks in the yard are shall we say a little weird.

85 masaratti(spelled wrong) bi-turbo with a 16 valve toyota engine swap. They had the ecu wrapped in bags and an old tractor tire tube zip tied to the firewall.

Mini Trick (Brand?) all custom with the most jimmie rigged crap everywhere. And a Chevy Big Block! Looked so freakin scary stupid!

Makes me wonder if they even ever ran like that?

i usually find tool(s) everytime i go.

actually i seem to find them in many random places. got a tool box on the train tracks once, full and the box was trashed.

ive found a few dollars, mostly change.

i always look for stuff. most of the yards have already been scavenged by the JY weirdos that work there.

nothing spectaculuar... like a dead body

I would like to bless Stewart Emery. He ran the best yard I every went to, colon cancer took him a couple years ago. I came in one day and there was old Stew with the bigest grin on his face! He had just finished his latest creation, a 302 ford v8 powered wheel crusher, wood spliter it would crush wheels with tires from four directions. He had headers and glass packs on it.

I stayed there for quite some time watching and feeding his crazy machine.

God Bless Ya Stew, You Old Bastard :D I will never forget your laugh :)

Valdry's junkyard, now gone in South Los Angeles...

'70 R/T SE Challenger. Legit number matching car. '56 Caddy hearse. Quite plausibly was my great grandmother's car...She lived in Gardena, not too far from then in the seventies. A few Jensen interceptors, BMW Isetta (Urkel's Car), back half of a '58 or '59 vette. He had some really, really cool shit in there. I haven't been there in years!

At the Blinn-street U-pull in in Wilmington. '65 Chevelle Malibu with an in-dash tach. Didn't think anything of it until I learned a few years later that car was a SS Z16. One of 200 or so with a 396, and the only ones that got a tach that year. Stripped out Grand Nationals, intact Jaguar V12 XJSs from the eighties, and a lot of Zs in there. Arrgh...

there was an old courier at the yard a while back that had a b2600i motor stuffed in it. looked like a hack job.

theres a vw bus at the yard thats got a 2.5 iron duke mounted in the back. its got a big ol radiator hangin off the back of it too. the thing that has me curious is what trans it used. it doesnt have one.

other than that, i havent found anything real good at a junkyard before. and i used to work at one... go figure lol.
