Oliver
I was thinking about a couple sss carbs i had then it dawned on me that they came attached to a head about 20 years back. Went to the shelf and pulled down the head and it turns out to be a 219. LOL Has some really cool old hitachi spark plugs. Its got some gnarly pitting around the exhaust ports and one pretty beat up exhaust valve. Don't know what cam it has in it but i measured out the cam at around .425 lift. Looks like its never been milled as it mic'ed out at just over 108mm. Here's some pics of it after sitting for a solid 2 decades. Quote Link to comment
Doctor510
Absolutely worth saving (or using). 108mm is the unshaven height. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Yes it is worth saving, I hope it has not been setting for years on the valve side of the head as it can bend any valve it's resting on. You will likely get a lot of offers to buy this head, they are hard to find and it is expensive to make one out of an A87 or a W53 head. Quote Link to comment

Oliver
Probably not for sale as I been wanting to build a 620 or a 4 door 510 for a while. Just waiting on a clean example 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Found random 219 head in my stash. Worth saving? Probably not for sale as I been wanting to build a 620 or a 4 door 510 for a while. Just waiting on a clean example What a tease. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
The exhaust pitting is likely from someone previously using a header. They always leak and exhaust will burn a divot in the aluminum. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
On my tablet now and can zoom in on head,,, that number 3 exhaust valve and seat looks seriously fucked up. The upper part of chamber looks like something bounced around in there too . 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
It's probably not worth saving, but 3 Benjamin Franklins would be a tolerable exchange rate given the extent of the damage. Quote Link to comment
hosestop@msn.com
Actually later model head , maybe Nissan comp catalog, ones that came with sss motors have it on front of head ,earlier ones. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
219 was the early SSS head, may have A-87 on the side and 219 on the front. As I heard it, the 912 was a re-issued head because all the originals were highly sought after and bought up for racing. Nissan saw the need and made a later production run but reversed the numbers. Being a closed chamber, its the easiest way to make good compression. Most heads were open chamber. 2 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
V912 head casting did not have large ports. They were left small so the end builder could port them as needed. So not the same as a 219 head at all. 2 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Worth saving? Only if you have a L motor with big port Nismo Dual carb intake. Othewise putting a downdraft on there is just waisting this head of its true potential then its not worh much. most people use a w53 and machport the intake and pretty much have the same thing 1 Quote Link to comment
hosestop@msn.com
Wrong they raced some with down draft webers on these with big jets sucking gas and they came matched to a 220 SU manifold I need a set of carbs for one I have here . Quote Link to comment
