It appears that whoever put those on last time struggled with the same thing I am, the thread/pitch of the studs themselves. I tried to buy a metric tap/die but they didn't have any that size in HD. Somebody measure the stud and tell me the size please. I will be eternally grateful. 3/8 is .375 10mm is .393 That should be an easy enough variance to measure the diameter of the stud.... What your actual issue? Are the threads fucked up on the mount? 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
I do have an old original mount in my spare parts, I'll measure when I get home if you really need. 1 Quote Link to comment
d.p
Threads look fine on the mount from what I can tell but the m10x1.25 nuts that came off them won't thread. Get like 1-2 turns then stop on both sides. The nuts thread on other 10x1.25 bolts so that tells me the mount isn't 10x1.25 or the threads on the studs are fucked. A brand new M10x1.25 nut won't thread on them either so I am just assuming the threads are messed up on both mounts or I simply don't have the right size nuts. 1 Quote Link to comment

Crashtd420
Well usually a metric can go over sae but it would be loose..... sae would only get half a turn on a metric of the same approximate size.... I guess I'll measure for you and let you know when I get home.... 1 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
The 521 frame should be SAE fine thread and the mounts could be either metric or SAE fine. Quote Link to comment

d.p
Shiat. That means the stud threads are dusted. I ordered a metric tap and die so will just redo the threads and hope for the best. thanks though my man. 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Are you talking about the stud coming out of the rubber motor mounts? I would just buy new mounts. Nissan mounts are about $50 each, or RockAuto specials are like $10. 1 Quote Link to comment

They were, make sure they are correct.. ones I ordered for a 521 are actually for a 720..... Doesnt mean the didnt become available, just saying make sure they are right..... Even the transmission mount sold is wrong.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Damn if this doesnt look correct.... 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
I believe the 510 ones are the same: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Datsun-510-Motor-Engine-Mount-Set-1968-1973-OEM-NEW/313318825413?hash=item48f341ddc5:g:xDQAAOSwPhdU2WJ6 Cheaper here: https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/nissan-insulator-mount~11220-a3500.html I would see if Mike or Charlie or Wayno knows if the 510 and 521 are the same. When I put my motor in I delt with this exact debate.... I had 510 mounts and there was something just slightly different.... I'm gonna see if I maybe took a picture 1 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
Here’s your thread. Kelowg said he used 510 mounts in his L20b swapped 521 and it was perfect. Quote Link to comment

In the end I think I disagreed... yes the 510 mounts were available and cheap and I believe they would bolt up but the were not the same.... In the end I probably would have been better off modifying my brackets to suit the 510 mounts over the 720 mounts but I had already sold the 510 mounts and bought 521 mounts that were actually 720 mounts.... I just gave up and made new metal brackets..... So I dont know the correct answer..... Quote Link to comment
d.p
Yea the stud sticking out of the rubber is what is giving me problems. Ima try and redo the threads and go from there. I’ve kept my eyes out for NOS mounts but ever since I got this truck I don’t think I’ve seen them available. Quote Link to comment
d.p
Anyone know if the rubber parts are the same between 520 and 521?? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-520-original-engine-motor-mounts-with-towers-/163957404846?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
I see the J13 isolater as having a bolt at the top and two along the bottom. (3) The L16 is two bolts on each side.(4) Totally different part numbers. The L16 mount in the 521 and the '73 620 are the same Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Is it possible to remove the stud and replace it? Quote Link to comment
