Scgreen620
So I recently changed my oil and filter I bought a Bosch filter (this would be my second oil change with the bosch filter)... The only problem is that the filter is leaking I hand tightened it the tightest I could but it still leaks maybe one drop an hour .. Is there any other filter you guys would recommend or is my block warped or what can be the problem? Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
If the Bosch filter is anything like any of their rebuilt starters or alternators, then this.... Get a Wix from NAPA. Don't even THINK of a fram filter. Quote Link to comment

Don't even THINK of a fram filter. fyi fram toughguard has been shown in cutaways to be really good (dunno if they still make toughguards tho) * if you want a nissan genuine you'll have to settle with the made in thailand or made in china junk Quote Link to comment

thumpgun
This is a great thread. Thanks for posting this. http://community.rat...ix-comparison/# This was very informative. I was wanting to make a post asking opinions on oil filters. I searched first and found these. A friend and I were just discussing this subject this morning. He works at O'Reilly's and I was getting oil and a filter. I have used Fram, Wix, K&N and some others over the years, I've never had any problems before. He said the O'Reilly MicroGuard is made by Wix. I was asking about Fram and he said they were junk. The cardboard versus metal, etc. He also said he has had some people return Fram filters collapsed. I personally have never had any problems with a filter. Except once when the K&N wrench off nut twisted off of the filter on my TII RX-7. I've been using the MicroGuard filters on my Pilot since I got it last May. I'm still not sure what the best route is with the oil filters. An actual comparison and failure test would be great. Great thread, thanks for all the info. I went and found these links. They have some good info. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/eating-crow-fram-oil-filters-my-visit-frams-r-d-facility-dayton-ohio-1261517/ http://filtrationcomparisons.weebly.com/ Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
K&Ns are garbage. I have seen a few fully collapsed internally. Quote Link to comment
shacks510
Fram PH8A. Yes, for a Ford Ranger. My dad has used Fram PH8A for years, and I'm using one now. Never once a problem. Old Fram filters were cardboard crap. New ones are better. Quote Link to comment
