q-tip
Now THIS is airplane porn. I've been in the business for 35 years and have seen a lot of polished aluminum airplanes. I have never seen an aircraft that had a mirror finish everywhere it is not painted. This thing takes an insane amount of labor to keep it in this condition. A Cessna 195 at my buddies Mat and Phil's shop at the Denton TX airport. Bottom of the right wing. Bottom of the right wing. You can see the rivet line going from the lower left to the top right of the picture. Like a mirror. Same view a little wider. Same view with a couple of inspection plates in the frame. Still bottom of the right wing. Reflection of a 1958 Cessna 172. Newest aircraft in the shop. Baggage door. Right fuselage reflection of the Stearman in the shop for maintenance. Left fuselage reflection of Phil's Cessna 195. I am over 50 years old. I have never taken a "selfie". I really don't understand the popularity and really think it is dumb youngsters doing it. After inspecting this incredible piece of machinery, I lost all my selfie control! Oooo shinny 1 Quote Link to comment

hobospyder
Holy hell all those button head rivets and I still see less distortion than half the butt spliced on a 47 with countersunk rivets. I would polish that beastie too. Thank you for sharing that kilo, I need to take better care of the skin while I'm working 2 Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Interesting! Normandy Invasion stripes, Czech rondel below the front of the canopy, and no Malcom bubble canopy! 1 Quote Link to comment
Jesse C.
Czech 312 Squadron and the white band just forward of the tail indicates it is a day fighter. They did participate in the Normandy Landings and the Dieppe Raid, but, this bird does not have those markings. These are D-Day markings 1 Quote Link to comment

laotsu
A South African Air Force Harvard trainer rips up a beach on the Atlantic coast near Saldanha Bay with its propeller tips no more than three feet from the sandy surface. A group of Army officer candidates walking up the beach are just now realizing that their lives are in jeopardy. In the far distance you can just make out three other Harvards. 2 Quote Link to comment
