For one, two very different companies that where competing against each other and the Bf 110 cockpit is mostly part of the fuselage, not a separate component, and it is much more narrow. MikeRL411
Designers do steal ideas from each other!! The cockpit layout was copied, not the body, 1 Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
By the way this is the second iteration of the design. A very muscular gunner over rode the rear machine gun stops and shot the original horizontal tail plane off so it was moved to the left side. 1 Quote Link to comment

The BV was supposed to be an recce aircraft, and thus the visibility factor. The Bf was a heavy fighter, visibility was critical, but not the extent of a recon aircraft. 2 Quote Link to comment

metalmonkey47
Cool bit of history I learned about recently after visiting the Yorktown again a few weekends ago. Apparently during WWII, they used to have catapults that could launch aircraft from the hanger deck. This wasn't commonly used though, since it was only intended to be used in the event that the flight deck is out-of-order. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
angliagt
Our oldest son was in charge of the catapults on the George H W Bush carrier. We got to go an all day cruise on it. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
