Jesse C. Posted July 6, 2015 Report Share Posted July 6, 2015 This was a test bird to see if one could be powered by a nuclear reactor. The plane was built was build using a B-36 that was involved in an accident. Note the special cockpit that was made to protect the crew from radiation. The new cockpit weighed close to 11 tons! It flew with the reactor installed and it was powered up a few times, but, it did not power anything on the aircraft. The project was cancelled shortly after. 2 Quote Link to comment
