Cleopatra Jones
^I feel like this conversation didn't end there. It was followed by a bunch of angry looking emoticons and then a phone call to tell me I'm a smartass to which I replied, but you already knew this :) Link to comment

q-tip
I've never had to take one that far to get it off, must be something wrong.... Link to comment
hobospyder
i've punched holes into filters to get them off before but never completely destroyed one, messy enough with a drift punch through the damn thing Link to comment

flatcat19
You, Sir, have done it wrong. Let's hope he stays on the FB page. 1 Link to comment
tr8er
He tried both directions. To his defense, a few knocks to the right helps break the locked threads. He is hitting it in both directions from what I see. This is impressive. I hope someone on Facebook suggests a torch to expand the threads. 1 Link to comment
HRH
I have actually had fun with an oil filter that was tightened on without oil on the rubber on a roommate's Suzuki in college. I also destroyed the filter to the point where only the base plate was on. I then took a dremel tool and cut-off wheel and told him not to let anyone else do this, and VERY carefully cut it off enough to release the pressure. Link to comment
hobospyder
wait, is that what happens when you don't oil the o-ring? always been too scared to try because i like my vehicles to much. Link to comment
flatcat19
I have seen some bad ones in my days. Never like that though. And I never oil the gasket. I just don't over torque the filter. Simple. Link to comment
datzenmike
I oil mine and wrist tight. Link to comment
maltese
I oil mine and wrist tight. This. Link to comment
tr8er
I tried wrist fighting once and cracked the block. Now I just give it a good spin. Link to comment
Laecaon
One hand tighten. Two hand loosen. In a pinch I have used a screw driver on a friends car. It can tear the can, but most of the times it will just spin off. Link to comment

Laecaon
Oh I just shove a Philips straight through the filter. Make sure it comes out the other side. Then you have a nice handle to remove the filter. Link to comment
MicroMachinery
What a goof. Everybody knows you hold the filter in place and spin the engine. Link to comment
Chuck Most
I wonder if that stared out as a Goatse pumpkin, but they changed it to a stripper because they were afraid nobody would get the reference. 1 Link to comment
