cdub42
So, I was told Monday I was to take a 32 percent paycut or be terminated. Wonderful. Guess now I have more time to spend with my datsuns Quote Link to comment
r0p0doe
Well that's some bullshit, what is it that you do to where they wanted to cut you back so much? Quote Link to comment
thatguy
In most cases, better to be paid less while you look for a job than not payed at all. 5 Quote Link to comment

cdub42
I'm an aircraft mechanic who specializes in prototyping advanced composites. Basically if u have a crazy idea for a product you want built to aerospace quality out of composite materials, scribble me a picture on a napkin and I'll hand you the finished article with all the tooling and documentation you need to produce them. Really crazy shit too. Quote Link to comment
cdub42
That much of a paycut I, I'd make more on unemployment. 3 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
32% what is or how did they come with that percentage, are you contracted are they slow did they find some one that will do it for less? Quote Link to comment
cdub42
That is the difference between my salary as a high skill R&D project lead and the top end of the scale for a low skill production worker. It's retaliation for me climbing up their ass and biting a piece off for them bouncing paychecks and handing out paychecks weeks late. I saw it coming tho. I worked for Fiberdyne before it was bought out by carbures international, a Spanish (not Mexican) company. The Spanish don't like our "John Wayne" attitude. Basically anyone who isn't a proletariat. I'm a skilled tradesman not the trained monkey the Spanish are accustomed to pissing on. 1 Quote Link to comment

cdub42
I want to. Everyone says I should. But I lack the startup Capitol. I build stuff for me and occasionally other people, but I can't stretch what I do have and cover my cost of living at the same time Quote Link to comment
GRpufnstuf
Move to SoCal! Scaled Composites is going strong and I'm sure I could get you side work in the film industry Quote Link to comment
cdub42
Actually already got that iron in the fire...lol. Might be moving to mojave along those lines. Spaceships are already on my resume. I'd love to build some props and do some SFX work too. Something completely different 1 Quote Link to comment
DanielC
If may sound a little brutal, but these are the lemons you have been handed. Make lemonade, get establised, and then make that lemon bomb. Maybe take your Datsuns to somewhere they do not rust as fast. Quote Link to comment
cdub42
Nice use of my tag line. Lol I plan to. I just can't get into specifics yet Quote Link to comment
Longtooth
Unfortunetly alot of companies do not see this "I'm a skilled tradesman not the trained monkey". I understand what you have been dealing with and good for you for taking a stand. Let them see what happens with the trained chimps when things dont go right. Quote Link to comment

danfiveten
This is what happend to my wife, except they were trying to get her to leave. She worked 14 hours a day, never got to come home and spend time with the kids, all because of 2 new boss's, and a new vp that hated women, and thought her position was super easy, even though THEY had no idea how it worked. When she left (shes happier now working pretty much for nike) the description they put up for her job made it sound like a money could do it. And wanted to pay 10k less a year. They have not been ablet to keep anyone in the position, and half her department has left. They even begged her to come back and she told them ill come back, if you fire these 2 fuck heads, otherwise fuck you guys, because im happy now. She was in charge of the mailings division for the entire nw area, she handled million piece mailings yearly for class action lawsuits, kind of a important position, because she made sure what was mailed out was proper, adn the cheapest rate of postate, and made sure custom envelopes and stuff were printed right to standards to mail to save the company money. Stupid when u get rid of the good workers, for teh trained monkeys that dont know shit and end up costing you more money. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
GL. my GF took 5mos to land a job after moving in. I'm a skilled tradesman not the trained monkey the Spanish are accustomed to pissing on. Poo will be flung Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
That sucks big time! Having had my own problems with my employer recently (though I still have my job) I can only imagine how hard that sort of shit would be. You've mentioned the aerospace industry and special effects. Are their any employment opportunities in the boat building industry or specialist car design/build workshops or race car teams? Defence contractors or the US D.O.D? Manufacture surfboards, make ZG flares and other bits? Hell, whatever ends up happening, best wishes and hopefully you get it sorted soon. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
think Boeing would be hireing in Composites? BMW opening a composite factory in Moses Lake soon 1 Quote Link to comment
