Way way too much talk (which is cheap) and no action. Was there even any footage... didn't see it.

No camera on the actual run, but here's the qualifying. Impressive shit.

Major advantage of electric in a hil climb like Pikes peak is no power drop off at altitude. 14K oxygen is scarce and mixture is weak.

I am sorry for this, but one more rant:

1rst off I recycle, donate used goods and re-purpose. I am probably what they call a do-gooder. I even have plans on an electric Opel GT. With that said.

Electric cars right now are a novelty and probably will remain that way until they figure out a way to find a power source other than a battery (we all know how the electricity is produced that recharges those "green" car batteries). Sorta reminds of "1.21 gigawatts". This way the electric cars can have the range that is necessary and a refueling time that is acceptable. When they finally come up with that arrangement I will render my judgment (which is worthless, anyhow).

2nd I am not in the practice of storing my car batteries around my gas can doesn't seem like a wise decision. Cudos to the car manufacturers they seem to have figured out how to do that safely, I think. Speaking of hybrid cars.

3rd It's just my opinion which doesn't matter any how.

Carry on I will step down off of my soap box.

Exactly. Thats what the electric planes are as well. I read that article and while interesting, I was already aware of other electric planes. But my point is that there is no electric airliner that can carry many passengers. Apparently they are going to try and build one now which is great but brings me to my second point.

Motors.

We have some awesome electric motor technology. Battery technology is just barely starting to catch up, and it may never catch up because of the materials cost in building and maintaining and recycling batteries. And that materials/handling cost may come down as well, but a better solution would either to be make electricity so plentiful and so cheap that it offsets the manufacture and long term recycling/maintenance of said battery systems, OR, to make the car produce the energy at the car and turn it into electricity on the spot. Hydrogen fuel cells and other such ideas offer this option, but are also years in development behind the extremely efficient motors and motor control systems that we produce today.

If someone does make an electric airliner, then it will push engineers to design more efficient power infrastructure/fueling.

Once that happens, I am all down with electric everything.

Until then, I will stick with not liking electric cars
