Hydrogen in general and Oxygen seems like the most realistic solution to our problems of energy consumption. However the world would rather shift polution to another source instead of invest in some new fangled energy source that is not tested very well because of lack of funding as a whole.

The point is we need FUELS, electric is not a FUEL, it requires FUEL to produce, that is the opposite of the direction we need to go transportation wise.

When electric can do this

I will be interested,

But Hydrogen can do ten times this^, in a smaller package,  when harnessed properly, Ever heard of Bikini Atoll? Imagine that power harnessed in a drag car.......

Apples and oranges. Chemically combining oxygen and hydrogen and atomically splitting atoms? Not the same thing.

If we switched to electric tonight at midnight tomorrow we would still need fossil fuels to charge the batteries. Whoopie fuckin dooo. We would be 20% more efficient? This would mean 20% more people could build them and still have a fossil power source to recharge them.

Think about this...

1/ All civilizations are based on energy supply and use. Right now it's oil and maybe nuclear. The fact that we are looking elsewhere says we are in trouble.

2/ Maximum population growth is driven by food supply availability. Transportation and costs to grow from where it can be grown to where it is not. Population will peak and decline with oil production.

3/ With enough (infinite) energy there is nothing you can't do nor problem you can't deal with. Also the more energy available the less efficient we have to be with it's use.

4/ No matter how big the energy supply is, we will grow large enough to use it all, and want more.

The idea is apparently that first we will develop the infrastructure to support electric transportation, and then efficient electricity will follow.

That would work alot better with two things,

A: already having an efficient way to make the electricity like Thorium nuclear, which of course we dont want to invest in because it cant be used to make bombs. (while not one single nuclear power plant in the world has ever made a single unsubsidized dime)

B: A plane that runs on electricity.

Without those two things, pushing ahead for an electric infrastructure is a fools errand.

I may be way to paranoid,,, buuuttt I see electric cars becoming a hazard. Electrocution, battery explosions, general blue light explosions on the freeway.

Nah. By the time they age enough to have those problems, parts to repair them will be obsolete. Owners will be forced to replace the POS, for "the greater good"!

Let's go green!
