The project was to evaluate how small the manufacture of a turbocharger would have to be in order to produce sufficient speed not only to achieve atmospheric pressure but additional boost for each of the four cylinders. This project illustrates the design and manufacturing capabilities of Owen Developments in this highly specialised field and is a good example of where future high performance engines may ultimately end up. paradime
I'm curious what the advantages are of a tiny turbo for each cylinder over one large. The explanation of what they were trying to achieve is very vague. "in order to produce sufficient speed not only to achieve atmospheric pressure but additional boost for each of the four cylinders." If all they're doing is to reduce vacuum at the intake for better fuel economy, this seams like an excessively complex and expensive solution. In fact, the heat sink would make this set up totally counter productive for any performance gain. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. The British have been guilty of trying too hard to be clever only to wind up making things much more complicated than they need to be. If you've ever worked on a Norton motorcycle engine you know what I'm talking about. Tah-done Quote Link to comment

goes2fast
Why are these Honduh fanatics haning out on a Datsun/Nissan forum? If you want to promote Honduhs, and slam Nissans, go else where, maybe a Honduh forum? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If the picture was a 4th generation Accord then Matt was saying it was better than any Nissan made from '90-'93. He didn't say any of the other Japanese makes, just Nissan. I don't agree, but not from knowing for sure, just brand loyalty. Shortly after and certainly by the end of the decade Nissan was in a financial tailspin. The cancellation of the Z car in '96 sent up warnings. Nissan hasn't made or done anything since that was worth a damn. The GTR and the 'new' 350Z are to Nissan what the Corvette is to GM.... a technological super-car, something no one here will ever afford to own or drive. Now if Matt had said something against a Datsun, well we would have to step outside. The '90-'93 Nissans?.... meh, not so much. Quote Link to comment
