510T
So these B-210/310 boxes, does anyone know how much quicker the ratio is than a PL510? Nicholas7620 did I see you on 116 between Petaluma and Sonoma a couple weeks ago? You were going towards Ptown me the other way... So the autocross results came in and I got 4th in class! By far my best showing to date. I have no delusions of grandeur about my driving skill. Entering this hobby last season I was quickly humbled by the skill of the more experienced drivers. I must say it has been incredibly fun learning and trying to improve. I got a ride in a bad ass 240Z at this last event. The owner bought the car brand new! It was wearing 16x10 slicks, had power steering, and a Rebello 3+ liter L series among plenty of other mods. It was great to just sit down shut up watch and try to learn. He never took his hands off the wheel. My FutoFab gear knob came in! I'm stoked it is just right! Thanks Dave! 1 Quote Link to comment

freetheoranges
Is your shift pattern like my avatar icon? Can I pre-book a ride along... Say... June 2024? 1 Quote Link to comment
510T
I wonder what wheels those are on that z I can ask him at the next event. Is your shift pattern like my avatar icon? Can I pre-book a ride along... Say... June 2024? No it is the standard pattern but FutoFab does offer this knob in the dogleg pattern as well. And I don't take reservations, all ride alongs are strictly spur of the moment ;) 2 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
So these B-210/310 boxes, does anyone know how much quicker the ratio is than a PL510? Honestly, I did it just to get a box that was ten years newer and in better shape. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
According to ggzilla's tech wiki on the subject, the B210 is 15:1, the B310 is 15:1 for an A14/A15 car, or 16.4:1 for an A12 car... Anyone know the 510 ratio? 1 Quote Link to comment
Uber Deaf One
Anyone know the 510 ratio? 15.5:1 1 Quote Link to comment
510T
Good info, thanks guys! I guess 10 years younger and a half point in ratio is better than what I've got. :D Got to start watching P+P/ Row 52... unless someone has one in a box somewhere... Quote Link to comment
skyblue
There's a '78 b210 in the antelope pnp. 1 Quote Link to comment
Uber Deaf One
I wonder if the difference between a 510 box and B210 box is even noticeable while driving? I was gonna swap that steering box into my 4 door but haven't found one yet :) Luckily my box is in great shape so it should last until I go rack and pinion. Quote Link to comment
Duke
Another option for quicker steering is 280zx steering arms. They are shorter than 510 arms. I have heard of people using them with success, but have also heard there are problems with them causing binding in the ball joints. Another option you may look into. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
also heard there are problems with them causing binding in the ball joints I've actually heard they can snap the 510 ball joints in half. Of course everyone who said that had no answer when I asked "did you try just using 280ZX ball joints?". Quote Link to comment
DATSUNtrauma
That was some sweet driving Tyler. Well done! 1 Quote Link to comment

I know Keith over on the 510 realm has used them on his car for the last 20 years or so and hasn't experienced any problems, and he doesn't baby his car either! Quote Link to comment
Son_of_a_Datsun_Guy
So how did he surmount the bolt pattern issue with his ball joints? And to make this not a complete thread jack, looks like you're sticking much better after the flares and tire beefed up Baba. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
So how did he surmount the bolt pattern issue with his ball joints? I think he means Keith is using 280ZX knuckles with 510 ball joints. Quote Link to comment

510T
I've started a project that has been on the list forever. A center console. The basic design is something that I came up with after many many many scrapped drawings. I feel like it was a lot more difficult than it should have been, lol. I think it's turning out ok, I still need to figure out some brackets that I like to secure it and then take it all back apart for covering. :D 1 Quote Link to comment
510T
One more, the reason I've been working on this (besides being able to see my gauges): Front speakers! I had to get these operational for the 5+ hour fun run tomorrow! I've only ever had the 6x9's in the back and the 8" powered sub. 5 Quote Link to comment
freetheoranges
What type of wood are you using? 1 Quote Link to comment
510T
MDF, 1/4" on the sides, 1/8" for the gauge and shifter panels and 1/2" for the bracing. 2 Quote Link to comment
Son_of_a_Datsun_Guy
Out of curiosity as I may be trying something like this in my car, how are you mounting it to the tunnel? 1 Quote Link to comment
skyblue
I believe he told me he was going to use magic. Jk I'm curious too. 2 Quote Link to comment
