dimlight65
Well, we installed the transmission cross member and shifter today. I also mashed a piece of 2.5" tubing and tack welded together the driver's side zorst from the manifold to the bell housing. Finally, we installed a mini-starter on the thing. I'm glad I didn't buy the regular starter because I doubt it would have cleared the steering links. It is coming along... slowly. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Trans crossmember installed... New shifter because racecar... New shift knob because Tim... Compact starter is compact. But still a tight squeeze... Shifter test fit... Driver's side downpipe mocked up... In the last pic you can also see the button head screws used on the water pump pulley for better fan clearance. It was TIGHT. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Looks like space will be at a premium in front of that motor. Yikes. Quote Link to comment

This may be me being too optimistic, but it's not as bad as it looks. Fan clearance is very tight, but engine/radiator clearance is great. Quote Link to comment

I just see lower rad hose next to the exhaust. Oil cooler under the exhaust. Fan clearance already stated getting tight. I'm trying to imagine the rad. hose fitment. I'd hate to hear of the exhaust burning that hose through. Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Like how the L is, pointing up, but in the center? Does that make sense? Just imagining as few bends as possible Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Like how the L is, pointing up, but in the center? If you're talking about the hose, it won't be an L. More like half of a C. Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Like an L(series rad is.) Now I'm more lost... Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I think we decided we will try something like this first... Probably with some heat wrap around the down pipe. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Never mind me. You guys got this. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Never mind me. You guys got this. Questions/suggestions are never bad. But while we don't always concern ourselves with making things pretty on this car, we will certainly make sure it's safe. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Get a move on it. We all want smoke-out videos!!! Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Get a move on it. We actually did just today discuss perhaps having a friendly wager to see whose car is done first, his B210 or my 1200... Quote Link to comment
CWhip
I really want to know how well that brake mc setup will work! Quote Link to comment
Kirden
Well if Tim would let you work on your 1200 it might be a fair fight :P I'm liking the because racecar shifter. As long as the other guy is deaf, this thing will be a mean sleeper :ninja: So, wanna come to GA and shoehorn a VG33 into my B210 sedan? While 4 doors does indeed fit more hoes, A-series may not haul georgia hoes faster than 20mph... Might need stiffer springs to :poke: Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
we will certainly make sure it's safe. Or at least "Safe-Adjacent." We really should put a roll hoop/cage in there but I'm far too lazy. Besides, it is just my head which would be squashed... no passenger seat, y'see. Quote Link to comment
Kirden
Just wear a bubble wrap outfit and fill the car with packing peanuts. That's how eagle_adam packs his fragile old parts... :poke: 1 Quote Link to comment

Only asking me to come take pics occasionally. Yeah, I've been feeling guilty monopolizing his time. At least with him excited about his project, I don't have to shoo him away and he doesn't try to take the wrenches out of my hand anymore... well, not as often at least. 2 Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
Today was a "Tim Can NOT Weld" day. After having new tires installed on the Genesis, I stopped by the shop to zook up that zorst pipe we made last week... It was not a success. I shut down and left before I farked anything up. Kirden
Datsunfreak sabotaged the welder to get a jump on the 1200 :ninja: 2 Quote Link to comment
