Brooin8
Get rid of the header wrap. Why do you say that? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Header wrap shortens the life of the pipe. Excessive heat over time makes the metal brittle and it cracks. I can see not doing this for a header which are way too expensive to replace but for a down pipe? shrug. Reducing under hood temps is more important.. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Good to see you haven't been shot up into space in one of those contraptions they have you building,, like one of those space monkeys.. Some day man,,,,,,,,,,,, we shall ride again. not a glamor shot, but ill throw my hat in the ring.... and yeah... the farm filter has been replaced.... i needed a cheap filter 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Totally bling free environment. Black and brushed aluminum all the way down to the fuel line fittings. I even go as far as heat shrink tubing on my braided lines. It protects them from nasty fluids and it looks way more stealth. 1 Quote Link to comment
paradime
One step beyond in the fight against bling. I would imagine that shrink wrap makes it damn hard to bend. Are you waiting to shape and instal it before heat gunning it? 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
No, it doesn't make it any harder to bend. I put it on flexible stainless steel braided line not hard line. Quote Link to comment
tr8er
Totally bling free environment. Black and brushed aluminum all the way down to the fuel line fittings. whats that red fitting on the turbo hose? And Fram filter.... Quote Link to comment
paradime
Fram, no such Mr. T. Mine's Motor craft, and it's white. If you're talking about that bit of red above the dip stick, I just went out to the garage with a sharpy and took care of that. Quote Link to comment

Reducing under hood temps is more important..I always thought that wrap was an insulation keeping the metal from fatiguing by slowing the cool rate. I wrapped the downpipe because it is the only tig welded piece that can fatigue and runs right by my brake reservoir. I should wrap the rest to keep bay temps down. And wrap does make the bay look sweet i think. Quote Link to comment

Wrap superheats the tubing because the heat naturally wants to escape the pipe, but then hits this barrier and has nowhere else to go but back in. Even stainless tubing doesn't last long with header wrap. As far as looks go, old header wrap looks crappy. It only looks good when new. 1 Quote Link to comment
