Some of you may remember this car...

Bought it about four years ago like this...

Got an offer to have the car used in a movie filmed in Houston, and they offered to paint it for me...

After some body work...

About 6 months later...

Shortly after that I sold it to a fellow in Midland/Odessa. He loved it. For about 6 months. Until this happened.

He kinda lost interest after that so I bought it back and fixed the damage, then repainted the door and fender...

After that...

Drove it that way for about 6 months and then sold it to a friend who was local. He took good care of the car for about a year, but it proved to have a little too much oversteer for him...

After stressing over it for a month or two, I decided to sell him my 610 and buy this car back. Needless to say, the 610 will have wiiiiiiiiiiide tires, and the chassis will be set up slightly "safer".

Got it home and thought "what have I got myself into?"...

More in the next installment...

I got the rear end disassembled...

Lower control arm was bent at the spindle and spring seat. Lower shock eye was bent, but was able to straighten it enough for now. Drive axle on that side had one of the u-joints cracked in half...

I had a spare control arm and a few spare axles, so that was fairly easy to fix...

On the front it was a different story.

Control arm bent, T/C rod bent, tie rod bent, control arm mount "pin" broken in half, sway bar bent, sway bar end link bent, strut tube bent, and the strut tube was ripped out of the spindle.

The only thing holding the wheel on was the tie rod and T/C rod...

Luckily I had spares of all those parts too. Damn, I've been in this game too long...

this car needs you don't sell it again

When I get it back to the way I want it, she's a keeper. This time. :P

FWIW, I never wanted it painted blue. the "free" paint job from the movie producers dictated the stock color. I always wanted it to be an off-white/cream color. And that's what it will be now.

Something like this, maybe...

Nissan Pale Yellow?

What usually happens is that I have friends who are as "car fickle" as I am. And so I sell them one of my cars, and then about 6 months later they are bored and wanting to sell them. Some times I buy them back, some times I don't. :P
