thisismatt
Are you dropping the cage through the floor so you can complete the welds around the top? Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
haven't made it that far but im gonna have to do some kinda tricky stuff to get it welde d for sure. im not a roll cage expert buy any means. Quote Link to comment
ol' 320
What trans will this truck run? Are you rebuilding the CA18? What will you do for front brakes and suspension? What is the distance from inside firewall back to rear cab wall about 6 inches off the floor? Quote Link to comment
boarlin
Not sure if going to rebuild or just run it as is. If I remember right the compression is about 145# in all four cylinders. Front suspension I think we are going to fabricate something not sure exactly what yet, thinking about custom upper and lower arms with 720 ball joints spindles and brakes Quote Link to comment
Jester
Bitch'n work Luke. I'm diggin the bender......A LOT! Matt's idea of dropping the cage legs through the floor is the best for getting enough room to weld your top corners and your main hoop splice. Especially when the customer want the factory head liner in place. Just weld a nice size 1/8" plate for feet when your done. Works awesome. Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
rut whoa shaggy it fell apart 1 Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
sweet body mount bolts action shot cutting the cab corners out for real this time for the cage The reason why we cut the cab corners out so a real seat will fit Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I like that! Can you fit a 2.5-3" tube back in the corner to reinforce the corner again? Have it sit in there concentric to the roll bar tube so it "nests" the roll bar? Can't tell if there enough room or not. Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
couple more bars and for some reason the one i thought was gonna be the hardest one, went in the fastest and real easy getting better and knowing my bender and pos notcher. and a short video of the wiper arms http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZbodsJnMsY&list=UUWDCR6IkdJ3dl9lWOPwYZEg&index=1&feature=plcp Quote Link to comment
ol' 320
What is the distance from inside firewall back to rear cab wall about 6 inches off the floor? Could you post some more pics of your cage? Perhaps flip the seat forward and show footwell area, please? Will you be putting structure back in cab corners over the rollbar uprights to tie sheetmetal back together? Clever project. How about frame flex, does anyone ever worry about adding a k-member of stiffening the mid-structure on these pickups, like they do in street rods to reduce flexing? Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Way to stuff that cage in that tiny cab  Quote Link to comment
Elsocio
jesus beautiful work man, hey hows the ride now after changing your suspension set up? Quote Link to comment

The truck is in storage now. so i cant just run out and take pics. as far as putting sheetmetal back in it prolly wont happen due to the fact that it would be a huge bubble banging your head on it, (etc etc) cause the bars tip in towards the top to follow the pillar curve. it will probabbly just get trim around it like a 510 door jamb. for cross members the truck has 4 crossmsmbers. now that the body is off i might make new ones just for more exhaust and ground clerance.
