Well, t'was an impulse buy at a pawn shop so I finger I got about a 50/50 chance. What I have to do now is fight the urge to buy a shit-ton of those Red Ball "banana mags" for it before I actually fire the thing!

You must resist, the mags aren't worth shit in a gun that doesn't work for shit.

Looking on getting a Beretta 92fs compact

I just grokked pictures of 92fs vs 92fs compact... call me crazy but it looks like just an inch or so less barrel length is the difference.  That, in my never to be confused with "humble" opinion, is decidedly NOT compact.  I'm not dissin' you or your choice, but it still looks like a full size Mohaska to me... just sayin'.

I must ask, is this general "anti-Hi-Point-ism" or "don't gamble buying magazines until you see if the gun works... ism"?

The running theme seems to be inconsistency. Either they work fairly well, or not at all.

Sort of an "is it a Wednesday gun or a Monday gun" type of thing...

The Beretta 92FS Compact is fine. It's a little smaller, and lighter. I'd say it's a good mix for an EDC. Sub-compacts are where you start to miss that extra barrel length. Shoot one, see if you like it, then pull the trigger.

The 460 Smith is a beast... pull that trigger in the dark and it's bright as fuck. It's pretty much a safe trophy though because carrying one is very difficult. I did know another cop that carried a snub nose .454 Casull... which... fuck that.

Good luck with a hi-point. Just remember, it ONLY works consistently during the commission of a crime.

The other Hi-Point I had a few years ago was a bit magazine sensitive.  Of course I don't remember if they were Hi-Point mags or aftermarket.  It is my understanding that using Promag mags voids the warranty so I'm thinking that may have been my problem.  The Red Ball 'nanner mags are, supposubly "Hi-Point Approved" and I've heard they actually work.  Now, havign said all of that, I AM going to wait until I've run a few mag's worth of ammo through the thing before buying any.

Damn ,carried a .454, where was he a cop, Kodiak?

Lol, you would think.

This guy also carried the largest duty weapon I've ever seen, some kind of a custom Para Ordinance 1911 double stack. I wouldn't be surprised if he now carried that double barreled monstrosity.

As you might assume, he was a terrible shot.

And it had the slide modified to accept this ludicrous barrel compensator..

It was just ridiculous. He clearly was trying to overcompensate. But... you know what they call someone who shoots a 70 at the range on their fifth attempt.... "officer"...

So, to get this all back on track.

California is a massive shit hole for us gun owners and as of right now, we have to either register our "Assault Weapons" or make them featureless.

Registration requires that I fill out a form, pay a fee, take pics of my "AW" and send them in. With this comes limitations on what I can and can not do with them. LIke letting people borrow them, unless in my presence, is a no no. Take only from my home to a legal shooting spot and back home. Unless I am taking it in for repairs and then I must wait for the work to be done and then take it home.

Featureless would allow me to use it like a normal rifle and no registration would be required. Registration as an "AW' that is, and I can even remove the retarded "Bullet Button" This would require or modification of the weapon to comply and it would cost money.

So, should I register or go featureless and stay off another list that the DOJ would keep. Now please, save the in my state and California sucks shit to a minimum. I know we have it bad and there are better places to be a gun owner. But I am not moving and thus I have to do what I can to keep enjoying one of my hobbies.

This is a featureless rifle. No pistol grip, no flash suppressor and no forward grip

What happens if you do nothing?

Do they know you own this weapon?

If they don't, why tell them by compliance with a law that restricts your constitutional rights?

Also re: a DOJ list, any person who has a firearms license of ANY category here in AUS is listed as a "Single Threat Terrorist" on a national database.

That isn't right. Automatically naming someone a terrorist simply because they enjoy firearms and shooting is wrong.

I can sell it or transfer it to someone out of state only! As long as it is gone from California. They are still trying to sort out how to make it legal for someone to travel outside the state with with one and then bring it back in legally. Now you may ask, why travel with it? Well, there are a number of folks who compete in Tri-Gun style events and use those types of weapons for competition. They can automatically become criminals by bringing their own guns back into the state.

Just how the fuck do they plan on enforcing this?

Bands of roving gun cops randomly stopping people and searching them?

Adding a weapons check at the border bug check stations?

It doesn't make any sense.

Here in AUS,a lot of Aussies would be able to answer correctly the question -

Who was the 1st President of the USA.

Here is a hint.

It was not George Washington.

It was this guy:

John Hanson, first US president.

John Hanson was chosen unanimously by Congress (which included George Washington). In fact, all the other potential candidates refused to run against him, as he was a major player in the revolution and an extremely influential member of Congress.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Seven other presidents were elected after him — Elias Boudinot (1782-83), Thomas Mifflin (1783-84), Richard Henry Lee (1784-85), John Hancock (1785-86), Nathan Gorman (1786-87), Arthur St. Clair (1787-88), and Cyrus Griffin (1788-89) — all prior to Washington taking office

More info:

First 8 US presidents.

This is roughly the same overall length as the Aug but.. I'm down 4.5" of barrel... on the up side, it's a pistol, so I can carry it concealed and loaded.

Looks like you'd need a big trench coat to carry that concealed.

Youngest son with his 6th birthday present. Ruger 10/22, I picked up a 25rnd magazine also. He was very happy.

I was 10 or 11 when my dad gave me my first gun.

A 16 gauge single shot breech load shotgun.

The first time I shot it dad was standing behind me and caught the gun as it knocked me off my feet (I was a scrawny little kid still).

I still have that gun.

Well, if I do nothing, then I am an automatic felon if I should get caught with it. Now, how would I get caught? Well, I can't take it shooting, I could get pulled over for a speeding and then a check, and blamo! Arrested! I could have an emergency at my home and they could check my home, and blamo! If someone wants to be a dick at the range and report me, that is an instant arrest as well.

I am just going to make my stuff "featureless" and that way I can use them as I please, within the law, and not register them. I just started ordering the parts.

Having safe queens is not fun, I want to take them out and have fun.
