Josh K.
Trim - Fit - Trim - Fit - Trim -Fit........ Holy crap! I have like 30Hrs into this quarter... Probably hung and re-hung it 15 times.... It's all good though. Another 10hrs and it will be done I decided instead of a full flange I would just hold it in 8 places around the arc and seam seal the gap. This way I won't force the panel in a direction I don't want to. Anyways, here's the final panel fit. I dropped down to a 3/8" spacer. Still gotta roll the lip back but I'm afraid it will put to much stress into the quarter. I'm still unsure what I'll do.. PIC OVERLOAD!!! Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
So I did a rare "after work" session tonight... I rolled and hammered the wheel lips up. I can now run a 1/2" Spacer and clear no problem Sorry it's hard to see the gap since I painted the inside lip with black Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. I can't get too picky right now as I need to set the camber and toe before locking in the spacer thickness. Ride height: Hitting the a-arm on the body: Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Progress has been a little slow.... I managed to work on the driver side more. I finished hammering the lip back as far as I feel comfortable. I also picked up some panel adhesive. I'm really leaning towards welding the flares on and then bonding the quarter to the body. I feel this will allow me to work the flares some more and not worry about the bond failing. I'm still undecided... Here's some pics from today: Lip pounded up. Back section. Still gotta work this area a little bit. The body line pooched out right here when I cut out the wheel opening. I had to do a lot of hammering the get it back. Still wish it was better. Some more tabs to bond to the quarter. Made a template for the filler panel. Quote Link to comment

B25
I keep having to go back through this topic because its so damn cool loving the stance! I cant tell but is the rear suspension installed and set at that ride height, or is it just a mock up? Quote Link to comment

Josh K.
Thanks for all the feedback guys, it means a lot! The suspension is hung but I have the inner arm bolt out so I can jack the a-arm at that point to get the camber out. Today I got some welding supplies and decided to have a little fun. I wanted to see how the car will look at ride height and how the two different flares looked together. I rolled (drug) the car outside, since I only have one wheel/tire I had to use my l33t MS Paint skills to splice the pics together. Here she is! Didn't level the camera very good for this one... Laecaon
Haha better. But no worries, it will get dialed in when you have 4 wheels and tires... Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Well it looks like I'm going to pick up this quarter on Saturday. Mine is really hammered and the price is more then worth my time! I'm also planning on buying a nice front core support from hobbes the cat. Quote Link to comment
philcas1987
Great job man Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Thanks Phil!! Hopefully I can strip and fit the passenger quarter and get the wheel wells made. I would really like to get the passenger side to the same place as the driver minus the flare this weekend. Quote Link to comment

yellowdatsun
This is probably the best flare job I've ever seen.............and I've seen a lot. Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Thanks guys! I was on the road today collecting parts Nice and straight front clip Nice straight quarter I even get to replace the rocker from the door back with a solid section I'll be on vacation from the 28th-11th so progress will slow for a little while. It's gonna be two-long-hard-weeks in horrible Florida Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Warning! Pic overload!!!! Today I started by making a template for the passenger quarter. Then put the flare back on. It's time to marry the two together. I used the clecos to hold the flare while I cut through it with a 0.040" thick cut off wheel. Then pulled it out flush with the quarter/tack. Then repeat all the way around.... Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
I love steel!!! You could pick the car up by these things and I haven't finished welding them yet..... Quote Link to comment
fisch
Your thread is such a pleasure to check into Josh! Those flares will be a work of art! Quote Link to comment

Josh K.
Thanks guys! It's a LOT of work for sure The hardest part is doing it right, making it look nice and not f'ing the whole thing up. You can easily do one of those, doing all takes a lot more patience and planning Here's the final pics for this weekend. Not much gonna happen until the 15th of next month.... Inside of the quarter. Obviously needs some rust grinding/repair still.... All mounted up. Not finished but damn close!! Quote Link to comment
