I looked at mine sitting in the driveway and then spent 5 hours cleaning the garage so it could fit back in there. Maybe it will get back in there tomorrow.

Well I pulled the fuse panel last night and let it soak overnight in vinegar, scrubbed it clean this morning and reinstalled it, cleaned a few connections and replaced a few bulbs, and I got the lights working, everything but the high beams, but I was so happy that everything else was working I decided that was enough electrical for one day. :P So I cut down a backing plate for the su air cleaner, cut it to a size to fit an 80's subie filter.... easier to come by, also cut down the acrylic that the carbs p/o used as an air cleaner top, it is not the prettiest but fully functional until I can afford something better, cant beat the price though! 8 bucks for a new filter :D

Opened the valve cover to check the head bolt torque after running the new head gasket for a few days. All good so far. Noticed the timing chain is pretty slack. Messed with the wiper motor and head lights again.

put a new ring gear onto my flywheel, and dug out the 5 speed from my parts stash. I picked it up and about 2 quarts of water comes out of it. pretty much ruined my day.

HI - I got a 72 dime, been a racecar since new. this is the stuff i did in the last week.

1, took out 5.12:1 R180, it felt funny - it was junk.

2, rear wheel cyls looked original, put new ones in and bled the system - i hate drum brakes too

3, ordered 4.88 geared R180 from a private guy

4, took the motor out, i didn't trust the rod bolts, tore motor down

5, sent rods for re-sizing, arp bolts (rods were ovaled .002")

6, ordered new steel comp retainers, the Alum ones looked beat.

7, installed Holley red pump in place of Carter

8, thinking about setting up a cot in the garage

9, recieved 4.38 geared R180 MF@&$^$*!!!!

10, can't find proper head gasket locally, ordered one from Rallye/sport (add to the retainer order). while i was on the phone, ordered 12:1 Venolia pitsons, pins, teflon retainers, total seal rings

11, maybe one of those bar fridges would be a good idea for the garage?

12, installed the diff - theres just no dealing with some people.

13, started installing a 2nd holley red pump (redundant system)

14, ordered a bunch of #6 AN fittings

15, maybe a TV would be a good idea out there as well?

16, rods are done, motor goes together

17, picked up gaskets and redline 40wt racing oil

18, installed Motorsport Innovations digital EGT

19, i think i'm gonna tell the wife after the races...

20, Calling around for a master cylinder

21, CC'd cyl head and worked out comp ratio: 10.01:1, not bad.

22, dismantled front cover, oil pump, cleaned and painted

23, i need help.

pics of the new suite i'm making in the garage?

just kidding!

haven't had any time to take pics - probably the furthest thing from my mind at the moment. i'll snap a few because thats the easy part - posting them requires time...right now i'm just venting because i'm at work and got so much to do at home, like get the motor in the car and fire it up and get it loaded to go racing tomorrow after work. I don't want to be here right now...

last one i bought was $130 (from vancouver) i got this one for $78 US so it'll be less money. but as far a local, nobody wants to get what you what YOU want, they want to sell you what THEY want. the dealership did not call me back after 2 days of calling them. $40 is real cheap - almost too cheap...

Is this a special thickness gasket???????

Felpro Headgaskets are fairly EZ to get. under 30$ look at Rockauto.com

Victor Renz from NAPA also.

importedcarparts.com

Lordco out of Canada.

Or Contact Byron510 on here or the 510realm as he live in Vancouver area.

nissanparts.cc ,superceeded L20 gasket which is 85mm used for the L16/18/20

http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=11044-u0804

Unless this is a special gasket this is usually a common part. Most might not have them ready in stock in every store but should have parts in a day or so.

as these special gaskets

i used a V/renz gasket once and the car over heated almost immediately - took a while to burp it. i have been told by a few people who race to never use anything but the OEM gasket, i have done that and had no problems. i don't think its special or anything, the aftermarket ones are just cut-rate and don't meet the same spec as the OE one.
